I was just down in South Florida last week and noticed that they have fast lane tolls where vehicles don't have to slow down to 15-20 mph to go through. Cars were buzzing through at 65-70. I have seen them in a couple other cities as well and was wondering why the Pike does not use them?
The Pike has done a decent job of warning people which lanes are for those with the Fast lane and those paying cash, but could they do an even better job of separating the 2 and thus speeding up toll points? |

Yeah, I've seen those when I was in Florida-all over, Miami, Orlando, Tampa...Boston should give 'em a shot, but I think it's more an issue with the whole FastLane program. Florida uses another company called Sunshine Pass or something, but the whole Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region uses FastLane. So it would be quite the project. Maybe a shovel ready one.
