Default NEMC now Tufts Medical Center

So today the Tufts-New England Medical Center becomes just Tufts Medical Center.

Quote:
Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston will today unveil a new name, dropping "New England" and emphasizing the hospital's ties to Tufts University in Medford.

Tufts Medical Center will use part of the official university logo, and its pediatric affiliate for children will become Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.

There's no mention of changing the name of the "New England Medical Center" stop on the Orange Line. Maybe they could rename it "Citi Center" Is there a better place name for this location?

When originally built (20 years before it opened), the station was supposed to be South Cove. Maybe it should go back to that. Changing it to "Tufts Medical Center" will only confuse newcomers or tourists who should be going to Davis Square.

Even more confusing! It conjures some kind of secluded beach in Bermuda.

Presumably this would be remedied when there's a true Tufts stop at the end of the Green Line Medford extension. For now...would Chinatown/Medical Center make sense?

No, two successive stops named Chinatown is a Very Bad Idea.

Individual Green Line streetcar stops aren't on most maps. Also, you can see where you are since you're above ground.

Just drop the "Tufts" or "New England" and call it Medical Center -- that's is what most of the T Conductors announce anyway.

If that is the official name, people will go there looking for Brigham & Women's, Beth Israel Deaconness, and the other Longwood hospitals.

Obviously we wouldn't, but many people who are visiting hospitals are from out of town.

I was at BC's Newton campus the other day. Some lady pulled over asking if she was near the Newton-Wellesley hospital.

Apparently the name of the exit on the Mass Pike was confusing?

How about TMC? It seems to avoid all the issues that have been brought up.

Or they could go with "Floating Hospital," if that's at least going to keep its name.

Like "Dock Square," which is neither a dock nor a square.
