Agreed, I think it's going to be great.

So amazing that they're going to be replacing parking spaces with loft-style residential units.

(Have always thought a similar treatment would be great at the Commercial St garage in the North End, too..)

Yes! That one, and the Charles Street Garage https://goo.gl/maps/ybhMf4vuhLu

These garages are from an era when they built them solidly and treated them with the concern/intention that goes into a permanent structure, rather than the 1960s-80s Lincoln-Log temporary-but-permanent monstrosities that went up like crazy.

This shows that in 1998 it was reclad. How much of the original was kept/used? It says its “jazz age style and groove was recreated in its original splendor with exact detail”. So this is a new facade then it seems. If they can recreate this exactly in 1998 why cant we build new buildings like this in 2018 when were trying to in NY?

Are you familiar with Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation?

Also, developers are more money hungry, I think. Higher costs are pushing for more corners being cut. Non-functioning architectural details are first to go.

I was hoping they would remove the north side garage entrance. I know it's convenient for those parking to have an entrance/exit on both sides, but this area hostile to pedestrians despite its high potential.

Also a little disappointed that more of the garage isn't being converted.

Still a nice project overall and a big improvement.

It seems logical to keep the North entrance open.

The Hertz location/access is convenience bordering on badass.

Even better (having it) as the density of the area increases.

BCDC presentation - cut 60' off, but it wasn't that tall to begin with, so no big loss. Still looks good.

Stupid, but the graphic shows to set it at the bottom of the “v” between the skylines. It literally looks no different at least.

Other than the "evil nimbys"(sarcasm) the real estate market is starting to cool so they might actually be taking future demand into consideration.

We already knew it was 310'. If there was a 370' proposal it wasn't ever rendered.

Re: Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

so it went from 370' to 310' neighborhood supertall height?

or straight 310' to 250' Buzzcutchusetts?

Fair enough. I'm just going with what the presentation says.

Yeah, I guess what we didn't know is it could have been bigger. But then wouldn't it have run afoul of the shadow on the parks rules?
