This use of zir is obviously used in a mocking way.

It's also not the first time a member who's name rhymes with Rad Lad posted something controversial as he display some misogyny in the Wynn thread (and another post that had a picture of women that I guess he did not like).

That site lost a lot of activity after the 2009 recession, but the real reason it faded was because its core members faded away, starting with Lofter1, who was easily responsible for about 50% of substantiave information sharing.

I would say thats a little overnegative. Archboston is not without it's problems, but not ready to die either.

Re: Briv

Jan of SSC was and probably still is open to absorbing ArchBoston and WiredNY but its still up to the owners... There were a few other sites that I suggest be merged in as well , Urban Ohio , Urban MSP , The Local Dallas and Fort Worth sites and SSP... People were 50/50 on merging it into SSC...which is still doing very well. I hate to lose all the in depth Convos and discussions on any of the those sites...

The "problem" is that this site is not about skyscrapers. It's about the architecture/built environment of Boston as a whole.

its just a name , SSC has a large Train and Plane community...along with a large tech and energy community..

Re: Briv

What exactly would be gained by being absorbed by SSC?

I like ARCHboston as a separate site. I just wish the leadership was present.

Probably not much initially, but more of a long-term guarantee of hosting, moderation, and maintenance. If this site dies it is clearly the best option. It's more about the avoidance of loss than "gaining" something.

Re: Briv

Wouldn't a better option be to pass the hat to rebuild and remain as an independent outlet?

Re: Briv

I don’t care that strongly either way, but I find more benefit in joining a global community of urban enthusiasts, including active communities for NYC, NJ, DC, LA, and Seattle, than in staying separate.

Re: Briv

Skyscrapercity is shit. It's a bunch of forumers posting one sentence comments just to boost their post count. I'd choose quality (even the degraded quality we have now) over quantity.

Re: Briv

Not sure that the world’s leading site for development information is “shit”. Spam to boost post count is a tiny fraction of all posts, and look at the Seattle forum for a good example of English-language urbanity discussion. I don’t care what archBoston does but the site I spend a lot of time on and learn something new from every day is very certainly not “shit”. The lack of approving new members will catch up to us sooner or later.

Is that how they refer to themselves? I've never once seen that site mentioned in a serious news publication. At least archboston has stumbled into the Globe before.
