Re: Pierce Boston (née The Point )| Boylston St/Brookline Av | Fenway

Would it be that much more expensive to have screen for mechanicals match glass color? At least try to?

Depending on the angle, the top is flat out bizarre. It's kind of cool, kind of... not...

Weird. Don't they need it to install more glass covering at the top of the north face?

Re: Pierce Boston (née The Point )| Boylston St/Brookline Av | Fenway

I think this building looks great and fills in another gap. The BU tower is kind of like the gateway into Boston because you come up the hill towards the tower and then turn left and on your left is a view corridor directly down the Charles and the entire skyline, and to your right is the BU tower looming way above you. There used to be a lot of open space after that but the fenway area started filling in and now the pierce tower off to the left of the BU tower now stands tall in the distance over the next neighborhood up as you go down the pike. I dont mind the screen at all I think it looks fine black with white trim. The glass looks great, the shape is interesting. I think it came out good.

Heres an old pic from the official website that is obviously about a month old but I think its still a great picture that gives a good perspective.

I love bostons pockets of buildings all over the city. That photo demonstrates it well but there is still Longwood, Dudley Sq, the seaport..... (Back Bay and Downtown is a given)

^^oh my God. Thank you.

from that angle, the Pierce could use a slender, then narrowing 200' spire.

with the blocks surrounding Kenmore Square getting 4 or 5 more tallish + Landmark and Fenway Ctrs' mid-rise infill.... (maybe) in this cycle.

Those arguably the only two views that don't make this look like a disaster.

That last photo..... It looks so great from head on. It still boggles my mind that it exists there.

Say what you will about this thing's sometimes unflattering proportions, but there are some angles, particularly at street level, where its shape just looks damn cool. It's one of those buildings that will never be my favorite in boston, but nonetheless will make life more interesting when walking by it - particularly in a previously very drab part of town. I have already overheard a couple of seemingly naive passersby utter things like "oh, that thing is pretty cool"

This made me think back to the old plan which was ~10 stories shorter. It essentially would have been a square in BeeLine's first pic. Glad it got stretched out a bit.
