Re: NYC Architecture and Development

I was wondering about that glass and steel architecture ban. I thought reflective glass can be really efficient? Reflects direct sun, doesnt absorb heat, cuts way down on lighting. Arent the leed platinum buildings glass? What would he propose precast? I mean concrete can be real good it generally stays a but warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, but I thought new glass tech is a1.

Idk I thought that was kind of weird, but tbh the glass phase has gone on long enough, if we can all wrap up all of our proposals and then move onto something new thatd be great. Idk what it would be, but Id like to see a new material come into the picture as the go to cladding. What do you guys think, or know... it would be?

-I did just read an article today saying hemp concrete can be a sustainable composite concrete that is much stronger and its a waste product of the existing medicinal/legal marijuana market. Thatd be cool with me.

Another supertall for NYC revealed. 350 park ave, 1500 ft. They better keep those twin spires, thats going to be a badass addition to their skyline.

227 fifth ave-
I get a serious WTC vibe- I wonder if that was intentional

Re: NYC Architecture and Development

Seeing how they went above and beyond on wtc security, is hudson yards heavily protected too? The wtc is a hard target now, other places are softer and the wtc is actually small compared to some complexes going up now. I hope they kept this in mind. At the same time I think the wtc was actually overboard. You shouldnt have to over design a tower, airport/airline security should have improved to the point where a repeat is absolutely not possible. It stops there, not at the tower, thats actually ridiculous.

I'm a bit surprised that David Adjaye's 130 William hasn't turned up in this thread. For my money, it's a lot more exciting than the row of hypodermic needles they're putting up on CPS.
