Re: Briv

Just got another message from a new member who would like to be approved. This is ridiculous.

It certainly has, not for Boston area, but I know for sure in Green Bay, Seattle, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Poland, England, etc. Unparalleled breadth of information on major development projects all around the world, including comprehensive updates on China, Southeast Asia, India, Poland, Russia, etc. Honestly one of the Internet's greatest treasures by far. aB is great but less than a thousandths its size and scope.

Re: Briv

I did and he popped back in for a second to activate some members. He asked me about having some members take over but then fell off again before anything was settled.

It happens fairly often , NYtimes , Washington Post , Huffpost , BBC , NBC , ABC Austrailia , Indian Newspapers , a few Latin American stations have interviewed Brazilian and Argentian users... Whens the last time Archboston appeared on the News.... The Boston subreddit gets cited once a month by someone in the Boston Media.

Progress! In over 3 years time in 6 months intervals, you might be able to have a complete discussion!

He's useless. If he gave the slightest hint of a damn he'd have taken two minutes to chime in with a one line apology and post mortem on why the site was down last week.

At least he did log onto the site and put it back up.

Gentlemen please. If you want to build a new site that is cool. Calling our long-time host useless, is not

It may have just been server maintenance. We don't know what happened.

You seem to be ignoring fundamental facts to make unfounded platitudes:
  • New user backlog longer than a CVS receipt (new members waiting half a year to post)
  • He's the only one with those user approval permissions despite being aware of this user approval problem for years
  • No active presence in the discussions
  • Constant stream of promises with no follow through
  • Site remained unusable for days with database problems
And, worst of all, no acknowledgement of ANY of this.

That, is the definition of useless. Briv might have built this from the ground up and had an active presence in the past (I remember those days) but the situation is very different now. Literally all he does is host it.

What Data said. We should try to contact him one more time, then look at migrating to a new site.
