archBoston Meetup
This is something I'm sure many of you have thought about (and briv and I have talked about) for some time but lets make it official.
Lets have a forum meet up, probably at a bar or some other chill place, where we can get to know the real people behind the avatars and get all nerdy about architecture. What works for most people time and place wise? Is downtown good, Allston, Harvard Sq? Weekends or weekdays? I'll update the OP once we decide on a place and time. Personally, since I don't live in Boston, weekends would be best for me. I have my spring break coming up mid April so I could do something mid week provided I have enough of a notice. The only bar I really remember in the area was Charlies in Harvard Sq but I have no idea if that is really suited for this kind of thing. What do you all think?

Re: archBoston Meetup
You know, it doesn't have to be a bar. Personally I would love to get jacked up on coffee and talk cities. That would also allow those who are not 21 to join.

Re: archBoston Meetup
Yeah, that would be my issue...not being 21 and all. I'll be in Boston all summer, so if anyone has interest in something like this in June, I'm all for it.
Also, I know there are a few Northeastern students here-I'm going to be touring the campus sometime this summer as well, although classes will probably be out. |

I love the idea of Charlies Kitchen, van. There's a big table in the corner upstairs.

Re: archBoston Meetup
I would be interested in meeting up. We can pick a bar/restaurant hybrid so all can attend (I think Charlie's Kitchen would fit this criteria?). The best of both worlds - booze for 21+ crowd but still okay for those under 21. I like the idea of meeting up after work some evening during the week. Weekends just seem to get too busy.

Re: archBoston Meetup
how about caffe vittoria in the north end? they have a ton of space, they make the best espresso in the city and they have a full bar. the meetup is a fabulous idea. i'm in anytime weeknights or weekends.

I'm down. Weeknights are also best for me.

Re: archBoston Meetup
Anyone else get the feeling that this is a secret ploy by Menino to get us to out ourselves so he can black list us?
Oh well, I'm in! I'll actually be at Charlie's Saturday night if anyone wants to come by. |

Re: archBoston Meetup
Let's get this on! This weekend? Mon, Tues, Wed next week?
Fajitas and Ritas in DTX or Charlie's Kitchen in the South End? Any other suggestions? |

Re: archBoston Meetup
Yeah, this one. I'm thinking maybe Tuesday or Wednesday afterwork, April 14th or 15th. Not gonna set a date in stone yet since I need to hear back from a friend of mine first.

Re: archBoston Meetup
Oh, yeah, I made a mistake, I knew I was wrong when I wrote it, cuz Charlie's in the South End isn't open nights. Sry.

Re: archBoston Meetup
How's after work, Friday, April 17th for everybody? As far as a place, I think it would be best to choose somewhere close to the city's core, easy to access by all subway lines, commuter rail, or bus. I also like Commuter Guy's best of both worlds idea

Re: archBoston Meetup
I think after work on a Friday might be too packed where ever we go. Wednesday or Thursday might be calmer.

Re: archBoston Meetup
Then how about the prior or next thursday, the 9th or 23rd? The 16th is no good for me.

Re: archBoston Meetup
I'm up for charlie's in Cambridge, but I think Briv has a point, Downtown Boston is probably the most convenient location for most people. I could make both Thursday dates mentioned above. I think we should nail the date down and then work on picking the venue. Briv can you do Wed. the 15th?
