Which reminds me...if youre in Asia, then yes Honolulu ranks a whole lot higher than a Boston (whats a Boston?)

People go places they know about.

I am going to have to disagree with this.

Jass, that includes transit pax. Read the fine print. Guam would never see that many "visitors" if it weren't for its strategic location ideal for switching planes. Both Orlando and Miami serve as gateways to the the Caribbean and South America. O&D numbers matter more, and boston is a huge O&D market.

Even in that context Miami is a larger market and Orlando's probably very close to Boston.

Not really. This sounds like a "fun fact" taught by a high school history teacher slash football coach. You could say that historically the city of Washington was within the District of Columbia, but as the city now takes up the entire district they are functionally synonymous. If you want to a be pedant you can refer to it as Washington, but it's definitely a city and obviously belongs on this list.

^^^ the d.c. comment was pretty much a throwaway aside and really wasn't the thrust of my original post at all, but i'm sorry it's upset you to this degree.

i'd apologize in more detail, but i've got to go coach a lacrosse game and prep my lesson-plan for this week's renaissance history class.

And yeah, Sullivan is still going to be an asphalt crossroads. The additional sidewalk space, bike lanes, and landscaping are nice, but it's not a real "square."
I believe these improvements are just short fixes funded by Encore to mitigate expected traffic. A real plan to make this a real "square" has been floated. I believe they're looking for a developer(s) and finalizing the road alignments. See here: https://www.boston.gov/departments/t...design-project

That glass tower in the foreground in the AC picture is such a monstrosity. It has gone bankrupt a few times as well. The fatness of it hides the fact that it is only about 50 feet shorter than 1 Dalton.

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

No pics but I noticed the Encore sign at the top lit up in white for a while out of the office window. It looks like it's dark now. Simple and elegant enough in the scheme of things.

When is this supposed to open again? I'm looking forward to the influx of construction workers available to work on all of the other pending projects.

Supposed to open this June but that may be in serious jeopardy giving the status of the Gaming Commission's investigation into Wynn's suitability to hold a Massachusetts casino license. The investigation is complete but the Gaming Commission has been enjoined from releasing its report because, according to a recent lawsuit filed by Steve Wynn, the report contains his confidential attorney/client privileged communications. Until Steve Wynn's new Nevada lawsuit against the Massachusetts Gaming Commission is decided (or an agreement is reached), the Wynn suitability report can't be released by the Gaming Commission at least in its current form. There still may be a few months to resolve everything this winter but beyond that, the June opening date could certainly be in doubt even if the casino is ready to open in all other respects. Regardless of what happens, it will be an interesting few months.
