Re: Charlestown

^by saying it is "contextual," I was being snide about it fitting in with the '60s era public housing across the street.

Garage it was...ugly one too. Not sure how they’re getting away with throwing steel on top of crumbling concrete.

Retail rumor is that Tatte taking first floor.

They argued with the city/neighbors for years about building that.

Re: Charlestown

While a contemporary building, the colors are consistent for 19th Century Massachusetts residential.

See:
https://www.salem.com/sites/salemma/...guidelines.pdf
Starting on p. 22, and going on and on.

And its close to several of the only approvable colors on Nantucket.
https://www.nantucket-ma.gov/Documen...ble-Colors-PDF

Back Bay has 'approvable colors' as well, but pertain only to masonry buildings.

Re: Charlestown

This is very nice, perhaps a bit too trendy with the entrance wood, but otherwise it's a great addition.

Re: Charlestown

^^^^^looks OK in person. the new curb cut that serves 1 (maybe 2 tandem) private spaces is an issue, but thats the zoning...

Retail rumor is that Tatte taking first floor.
it was 2 floors of parking with 1 floor of office on top.
It will be 1 reduced floor of parking (with retail on ground floor) with 3 floors of office above.

this building was terrible:

the glass blocks, the awnings, the garage doors...
huge upgrade.
