Seriously - those pre-cast panels are a page right out of BU's design aesthetic, circa 2000.

BC seems to have hired all of the architects BU has grown out of.

That gym building looks straight out of 1954! I kinda dig it.

....and 1954 BOMB SHELTER, perhaps.

Van, 3 sides of it have no windows.

While the campus side front entrance is nice, the public really does receive the "kiss my ass" treatment from Beacon Street.

Jeez louise... 1954 gym is dead on the money.

This is the backside of my actual high school, completed 1956, and yes that's the gym there to the right.

Re: Boston College Master Plan

Just to clarify ... this is an indoor football field. Not a gym, and the arched roof is a function of the city telling the school that the cornice line had to be low while the clear area of the inside had to allow for punting and kickoffs to happen without hitting structure.

All architectural choices have reasons behind them. Its not someones personal expression.

All sides have glazing. Only one side has clear glazing. The rest is translucent. I am guessing by the building orientation that there were serious glare requirements. That is the only reason a designer would make that choice. Wait until you see a night shot with the interior lights on. It will be a bit clearer.
