Am I off base here? Does anyone feel similar?
He gets things developed, but just not to the optimal urban potential -- ie. Fan Pier and One Marina Park Drive.

Crane = Building
Crane ≠ Great building

Nothing like a fresh "crane shot" in the morning to get you erect and excited at the prospects of another fine day

If you mean this many cranes without a single noteworthy project among them (except maybe Fatiron?), I would say no, I don't think this has ever happened, and probably never will again. If you mean actual booms, NYC is in the middle (or even earlier stages) of a really good one, Austin is about to enter its second major boom in the last 7-8 years, and to expand out of the US (you did just say "american" after all) we have Panama City's ugliness to the south, and IMO, most impressive of all, Toronto to the north. When I visited Toronto in 2002, the skyline barely impressed me compared to Boston. Now, they are currently building the equivalent of the entire Boston skyline! Check this out, and keep in mind it doesn't include everything finished in the last few years, and all the proposals that are expected to be built because this city GETS THINGS DONE! http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?searchID=55124247

In Boston, the cranes end up being taller and more impressive than the buildings themselves. Nevertheless, nice updates and keep them coming!

DHZ -- you have to put things in the proper perspective -- its all about what ends-up in the buildings that the cranes are building:

Yesterday morning at her final opening remarks for Technology Day -- MIT's annual reunion and reconnection for Alums from 0th to 70th Class -- Susan Hockfield, "President and Professor of Neuroscience" -- retiring 16th President of MIT -- positively gushed (nearly inappropriately for a family audience) -- "Have you seen the CRANES -- there are two cranes towering over the Institute... Novartis and Pfizer.... You must see the CRANES"

below you see an a bit more sedate President Hockfield, as she addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, last winter after being named by President Obama to be the co-chair of the new US Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP).

Driving into the SPID on the Pike this AM -- somewhere near to Fenway Park -- I saw what appeared to be a small crane high up on 111 Huntington (on the side closest to the Pru itself) -- couldn't get a picture of it

Has anyone seen it and does anyone know why it is there?

even better has anyone taken a Pru picture in the last couple of days that might show it?
