Re: 128 Widening

Out-of-scope for this leg of the widening project, but those two exits could be fair game for getting reworked whenever they decide to give the Pike interchange a makeover. Grove in particular is...

Re: 128 Widening

They still have till Spring 2019? I don't know what finish-up could possibly be left other than very minor tidy-up landscaping well off the road, because it looks like they're one layer of...

Re: 128 Widening

Sigh. Specialer note: covered in the Upper Falls thread you didn't read before opening your mouth. They're rebuilding the side abutments as retaining walls to hold up the hillside, installation of...

Re: 128 Widening

Interesting, because it's also the weekend of the rapid-replacement blitz of the Fairmount-Franklin bridge over the NEC @ Readville (HUGE-ass pair of cranes visible for miles around have assumed the...

Re: 128 Widening

No new CR station there, though. Riverside already had a mainline atop the Charles River bridge (with platforms (https://goo.gl/maps/8m9w1b9Mii22) and former egresses...

Re: 128 Widening

Please name a large commercial development in Weston outside of this office park. Not a recreational golf course built as Depression-era public works project, not a subterranean water tunnel, not a...

Re: 128 Widening

No, those are utterly make-believe facts. Abolish town-level authority? Because one of the smallest office parks in a whole unbroken chain of them ringing that 128 quadrant happens to be in a town...

Re: 128 Widening

The office park isn't nearly big enough to drive any transit access, even if the acreage is doubled. These are squat 1-2 story buildings, and any expansion along Riverside Rd. is likely to stay...

Re: 128 Widening

There's also limitations on how much of this can be developed by the anti-density zoning of the Town of Weston, and more practically the lack of much of a street grid. If, say, the cleanroomed...

Re: 128 Widening

It's just a tidying up of the toll plaza area when the plaza gets knocked down. Kinda depressingly limited and cosmetic in scope, and doesn't touch anything on the 128 level.

Re: 128 Widening

They seriously need to replicate that setup on the southbound side where the way short and sharp Pike-to-128S merge is still a catastrophe of slow-speed mainline merging. Maybe when the tollbooths...

Re: 128 Widening

They must be thinking of doing this, because every bridge on 128 between Reading and Peabody is already bulbed-out for the extra lanes. If they replace the Hopkins St. overpass just past 93 in...

Re: 128 Widening

Jeez...I just drove this stretch for the first time in 2 months, and they have accomplished absolute bupkis this summer. No progress on the new Highland Ave. overpass, no progress on the still...

Re: 128 Widening

The Dedham-Needham stretch is where the bridges took for-fucking-ever. 3 weeks ago they were still doing touch-up work on the sides of the Route 109 overpass. By contrast this Needham-Wellesley...

Re: 128 Widening

Yup. And they're starting the median dig south of Kendrick so there's an outside chance lane 4 might make it 2 miles north of Great Plain Ave. in the SB direction only before year's end (NB will...

Re: 128 Widening

Wow...that was fast. I drove by about 11:00am yesterday and the paving trucks were still out doing finishing work with not a lane stripe to be seen on the bridges. I figured it would be at least...

Re: 128 Widening

Last time I went by there they were finishing off the curbing around the freshly-poured concrete abutments. They must be very close to finished because they packed up and hauled off all the night...

Re: 128 Widening

4 lanes. It's a typical ridiculously overbuilt Massachusetts cloverleaf where a 2-lane road becomes a mini-expressway through the interchange impossible for pedestrians or bikers to cross.

They...

Re: 128 Widening

The northbound 109 overpass is all finished. I'm not sure why they havent S-curved the traffic off the old span onto the new one yet and started removing the old span. Or why it's taking them so...

Re: 128 Widening

138's a major cross-state highway going from Mattapan Sq. to Newport and all the way to Voluntown, CT. And it's the most direct shot to Mattapan, Readville, and Stoughton center. Absolutely no way...

Re: 128 Widening

The new flyover merge would've been even closer to the Univ. Ave. exit than the current cloverleaf ramp, which is already a bad weaving situation where 128N traffic has to cross merging 95N traffic...

Re: 128 Widening

Funding and timing. They couldn't swallow that as an add-on without too much mission creep sinking the whole project, and the stage of design it was in didn't sync with the rest of the 128 to-do...

Re: 128 Widening

No. Elm will get a heavily-redesigned intersection and upgraded ped access and ped separation to compensate for the higher-speed traffic, but because of the river crossing and abutters they're...

Re: 128 Widening

2 needs to have the last few curb cuts in Leominster between Route 31 and Route 12 eliminated so the west portion of the expressway is contiguous to 495. Those are easy fixes...that's closeout work...

Re: 128 Widening

Yes. 101 would have to be an odd-numbered prefix. 293 is legal in "spirit" of the rules for supplanting US 3 to 128 because the 495 and 128 connections loop back to 93. They aren't ironclad about...
