Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Latest report has the signals not being fully restored until after Labor Day:

I think I am going to go ahead and...

Re: archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

Because this is an ancient piece of software that has known security vulnerabilities, and is utter shite on mobile (among other reasons).

Re: Green Line Type 10 Procurement

Yeah - I went to the various public meetings for the Mattapan Line refurbishment - to be honest, I should probably make a dedicated thread to it. They grand plan was moving the Type-9s in a...

Re: archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

I further share this sentiment. Also, welcome aboard - hoping ArchBoston moves forward in a positive direction now.

Re: Green Line Type 10 Procurement

I thought the Type-10 order was a full fleet replacement to make it fully homogenized and the Type-9s would be retired?

Re: City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

I think the thought is that if the city does it correctly it could end up being a net win money wise by putting the street grid back in and then subdividing and selling (or land leasing) the area to...

Re: Archboston revamp

Tell me about it - even people who were explicitly banned don't seem to leave

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

It didn't get cut back though - everyone knew what the FAA limit was.

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

Eh, we can support things like a Soccer stadium (or other cultural/entertainment venues) while still building enough housing.

Re: Annexation

Neither does JP, which lead the charge along with Cambridge to stop the interstate expansion.

Re: Annexation

Considering Chelsea rather opted for receivership by the State instead of be annexed by Boston in 1991, I don't think the future is bright for annexation. Especially wealthy towns that surround...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Property taxes have been capped from rising via prop 2 in 1980. The number is also, again, not fixing every day service but literally modernizing everything (and doesn't include already spent...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

So doesn't that mean we don't start the timer on this one until the foundation is actually fully dug to the bottom of the pit?

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Sure, I used to live there (and grew up there) and I personally would take Orange Line HRT frequencies over the CR, too, I was just pointing out the main loss I would see in conversion is that South...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

I think the main drawback/losers are the Rozzie/Westie folks who will go from a 20ish minute one seat ride to South Station/Back Bay to a much longer Orange Line ride (with needing to transfer to get...

Re: How does Boston's urbanism compare?

Cincinatti is one of the worst/depressing cities I have been to. A couple of Art Deco towers does nothing for urbanism.

Re: Charlie Card/MBTA Fare Replacement system

Yes, chip and pin has been (literally) half-assed and only implemented the chip part making it... not that great. Still don't particularly like contact-less RFID cards, and, for a few years, every...

Re: Charlie Card/MBTA Fare Replacement system

Eh, none of my current cards support tapping anymore (and not really wanting that anyways, chip and pin is the way to go). Now, if, I could link my Charlie Card 2.0 and tap that and have it deduct...

Re: Charlie Card/MBTA Fare Replacement system

I really wish there could have been some overarching coordination on these fare system upgrades to allow usage between systems - thinking like how the FastPass basically works across states. Would be...

Re: Roslindale Developments

I'd pass on that and anything that might affect an Orange Line +1 to Rozzie Square (along with the CR still running to Needham), along with a more dedicated/sane bus area for transfers.

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Yes, the State is going to seize the property/air rights it already owns and put out to bid. Also, it is already going to the FAA limit, there is no taller here.
