Re: State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

I don't like speaking for the big O, but a couple of points from my perspective -

1. Let's be clear, Connecticut screwed themselves.
2. Yes, the city does have a new style NIMBY's which differ...

Re: Office Tower | 125 Lincoln St | Leather District

According to the LOI, it has to go to before the Zoning Board of Appeals. Not sure for what.

Re: Office Tower | 125 Lincoln St | Leather District

They might as well refresh an existing one they worked on, as they know there is no way this thing will be approved, as currently proportioned. Why waste money? They will redesign once they figure...

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium

This thread is 13 years old next week. Where's your sense of nostalgia?

Some things are meant to be unchanged.

Re: Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street |

The ROI on burying a garage is simply not there unless you can go substantially vertical. And you know full well how that plays in this town.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

You have answered your own question. The simple fact that is the last air right parcel in copley makes it more valuable, value that will rise over time. As one of the largest REITs in the country,...

Re: 2 Charlesgate West | Fenway

Who knows what condition the building is in, but it may well just be a rehab / addition with no additional height.

Re: West Cambridge (Alewife, Acorn Park, Cambridge Park, Fresh Pond)

Yeah, but better than the ugly ass stock brown that developers seem to adore.

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

That view is economic fallacy. It fails to take into account local taxes, federal funding allocated directly to local or county governments, excise taxes and all the other hidden shit through "fees"...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

We have the 12th largest budget in the US. There is no revenue problem, there is a spending problem.

Re: Bose, if so, it's Framingham's own damn fault. Dr Bose went to his grave hurt and pissed off at Framingham for not allowing him to build his amphitheatre on the mountain. I think it happened...

Re: State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Is this correct?

"The $600 million cooling towers were built starting 10 years ago in response to environmental concerns at the Brayton Point power plant."

No wonder electricity costs so much.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I recall the discussion, but to me a city of 1.5M vs 685K and an MSA of 6M vs. 4.8M is a significant difference. That's a lot of people. I was referring more to the "lack of a big city vibe" comment,...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Not to go off-topic but you seem a bit parochial here in your defense. Philly is 2x the size of Boston. If any place is a miniature version of NYC, it's Philly. Boston is like a big-small town,...

Thanks!

I never went that deep into the website to realize that they post the public comments. Some of those are pure gold.

Re: Fenway Theater | 12 Lansdowne St | Fenway

I just saw this tweet. Does anyone have a B&T subscription? Interested in knowing which groups are squawking about the "intrusive" redesign.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Big time bait and switch. The new rendering looks like any other tower lobby with two entrances. Perhaps my reading comprehension is off, but I did not see, or understand the rationale ("it wasn't...

Re: Framingham, MA

It will be interesting to see the residual revival of the downtown retail and restaurant scene once all these developments are rented out.

On another note, did the Dennison complex ever get fully...

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

South Station is not going to be ruined in any way whatsoever. This is a fantastic project and long overdue.

Where exactly have you been for the past 20-50 years with your disdain?

it could work, but you'd also probably be looking at least $50-75/ft in tenant improvement costs.
