Does anyone at the T or in advocacy groups have detailed plans on how the T will deal with expected climate conditions 20 to 30 years from now?

What would a plan to climate-proof the MBTA look...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Does anyone have any idea what happened to the loop tracks underneath South Station? Wikipedia says that they were only used for a bowling alley and parking lot for employees.

I have a sinking...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Not an ideal solution, but what about cars from Toronto? TTC is retiring that fleet, and if they haven't scrapped them all already it would be a good way to pick up a few cars on the cheep.

They...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Here's a list of a few proposals that I came up with:

Some ideas are standard/borrowed, some...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

The MBTA has released ridership numbers for the period of time when the fairmount line was free.

Apparently, ridership increased about 25% from base numbers in the first week of the program, and...

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

Don't know how much of his ideas would be applicable past the Linwood street stop in Arlington (where Mass Ave shrinks to one travel lane each direction). Most of it's a Cambridge thing.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

What do you guys think of Ari (from the Amateur planner blog)'s idea to turn the middle of Mass Ave, from Harvard Square to the Arlington line (and probably through East Arlington as well) into a BRT...

Re: Seaport Transportation

Is there any reason that BRT and LRT vehicles couldn't share the transitway tunnel? Seattle has a shared tunnel and it works okay.

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Would any future RLX plans into Arlington/Lexington be following the old plans from the 70's in terms of station placement/etc?
