Re: 128 Widening
If it were possible, how many tracks would be needed to handle all of the Amtrak, Orange Line and commuter rail traffic?

Re: 128 Widening
Needham essentially has their own rapid transit of sorts given the commuter rail has 4 stops in town and it's a very short ride into Back Bay and South Station. Would having a branch on the green...

The official completion of the project is Spring 2019, however it looks like they're pretty much done and the latest update from MassDOT said the contractor is on their punch list of leaving the...

Re: 128 Widening
Having the frontage roads was a smart move for the Highland Ave exits. Also adding an exit at Kendrick street was smart too. I would have liked to see them add in a frontage road setup for the route...

Re: 128 Widening
The 93/95 interchange in Woburn is flat out awful. Massachusetts seems to be one of the only states where you can have the interchange of 2 major highways and no additional roadway capacity to...

The whole project is going to be completed in Spring 2019. I am going to assume that's the reason for the 2019 date.

Re: 128 Widening
That would certainly make sense - that's a prime area where the highway needs to be widened to 4 full travel lanes in each direction plus a full breakdown lane in each direction.

Re: 128 Widening
If you look at some of the major interchanges in this state, 93/95 in Woburn, 93/95 in Canton, 90/495 in Hopkinton for example, all are poorly laid out and lead to traffic backups. I am not saying we...

Re: 128 Widening
That looks fantastic. A neat and clean interchange that has a much smaller footprint than what we have there now.
You could even have a path and footbridge to Riverside from that CR station.

Re: 128 Widening
I would have just assumed the residents of Weston would prefer the interchange to be rebuilt. You put in flyover ramps for 90 east to 95 north and from 90 west to 95 south and the overall footprint...

Re: 128 Widening
If they blew up the interchange and made it a stacked interchange with flyover ramps you would see a smaller footprint than what currently exists.

Re: 128 Widening
It's only a single weekend and they've given more than 6 weeks notice. Is it ideal? No. But at least they're going to do it all in one shot. I believe the new bridge will be 6 lanes.
My guess is...

That's unfortunate - a major interchange right in the metro area is in dire need of an upgrade it won't happen before 2020.
The rebuild of the 93/95 interchange in Canton which was supposed to...

Re: 128 Widening
I would rank the 93/95 interchange in Woburn as one of the worst anywhere. The 93/95 interchange in Canton is almost as bad. You also have situations where there are not proper acceleration and...

This project started in January 2015. I have a hard time understanding how this stretch of 128 can take 4 plus years to complete and that's assuming there aren't any delays.
Just look at how long...
