Re: Logan Flight Additions

I read this as "I must get myself an A380", as if it were a used car you could pick up once the airlines eat the depreciation hit. No tire-kickers please, I know what I got.

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

All other things remaining the same, I'd be interested to see how that loads up traffic at other points of access to the downtown area.

Coming in from the north I'd expect to see traffic shifted...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

lol it's all so tacky. but I wish it all success, I'd hate to see it turn into blight like so many other examples of its type.

Re: Temporary Habor Garage discussion thread until project is officially launched

I'm just a broke guy on the internet--I thought my problems were bad, but I've never been left holding a $150M bag, sheesh.

Re: BGI Office Tower (Massport Parcel A2) | 401 Congress Street | Seaport

Point taken Statler, and kingofsheeba, I should have read it more charitably, don't mean to get adversarial. I just start to grouse when I see the word hipster because it seems to be wielded in...

Re: Boston Freedom Wheel | Long Wharf? | Waterfront

Van, how is that analogous? None of the places being floated are as far/hard to get to from Downtown as Staten Island is to the Battery. And it's not a full development--a wheel and some landscaping...

Re: BGI Office Tower (Massport Parcel A2) | 401 Congress Street | Seaport

Ah cool, so for you it also seems to mean "young people I don't like," got it.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Photo by yours truly taken in 2013--witness the darker stones throughout, charred by the firebombing but original.

Re: Boston Freedom Wheel | Long Wharf? | Waterfront

I think Eastie would be the best--I'd love to see an expanded Piers Park (which still feels like a hidden gem), maybe rebuild that disused pier to the west of the Noddle Island Pier. Instantly makes...

Re: Volpe Transportation Center Development | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

I don't disagree with you about the non-issue that terrorists targeting hardened federal buildings has turned out to be, but I think I have to take issue with this. The public regularly comes into...

Re: Fenway Area Redevelopment

That looks quite nice. I'd like to see more but this looks appropriate for the area.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

We've had this discussion before and I'm in agreement with Beton Brut, unsurprisingly. To me there are authenticity issues with putting a building of that style here just because Boston doesn't have...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

I'd thought that as well but I'm not sure what other information they'd want to include. Destination is one, maybe if a car is out of service, or a "STAND CLEAR" flashing when the doors are...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

It's definitely too late for these changes now but it looks like a couple of things I noticed from the pre-production show car haven't been addressed:

-Is the new thin circle circumscribing the T...

Re: Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downto

Anyone know the final paint color of the spandrel panels in the oriel windows? Not in love with the rust color.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

I understand the impetus to try to spare rural Western motorists, but I still find it irksome. No matter how far-flung some residents are, Boston is the sun which sustains their lifestyles. No one...

Re: Question on genesis of Architectural styles

This is...quite broad, and pretty much the main subject of architectural history and theory. I'm reluctant to reduce to a response here what is really and education's worth of an answer, but really...

Re: Boynton Yards | 1-2 Earle Street | Somerville

It would be very difficult to be at all interested in this building. The driving principle for the facade seems to be, "mullions are good, so more mullions is better, and many mullions is best."

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Podium looking very solid; cladding on the res tower looking like warmed over Pierce leftovers, and not in a good day after Thanksgiving kind of way. I am not holding out hope for the office tower.
