Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium

Definitely, I'd probably buy a season ticket.
No idea how the numbers would work out. You might lose suburban families and replace them with students etc. But you'd definitely generate more buzz in...

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium

What can I say. I donít enjoy watching the revs at foxboro. I spent years kidding myself that I should support them till I gave up. I still go and see them if theyíre playing in the open cup at...

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium

unfortunately, it just says to me that the Krafts will never sell the franchise, we'll never see a suitable stadium in the city and lots of families will keep frequenting patriot place.
I gave up...

Re: Volpe Transportation Center Development | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

this is horrible.
The old one (which is also horrible) looks better.
I see from the article that it's being presented to the Cambridge planning board tonight (edit, looks like that was last night)....

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

These trips are about 45 mins at peak times, seems reasonable enough.

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

In Wu's Globe piece it mentions that fares make up 20% of operating costs. Beyond that I don't know the numbers and admit I'm probably out of my league posting here.
I'd love to see the answers to...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

you have to incentivize it. You cant just toll people and give them nothing tangible in return. 'You're money will go toward improved public transit' wont cut it. That's why I believe that doing...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

Leave your car at alewife and take the red line to Kendall for free. One less car on the road, and you still get your walk. It might not be as convenient as now but it wonít cost more and itís a...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

Prob mentioned a few pages back but Michelle Wu has proposed making the T free.
I think a congestion tax/toll is the perfect way to pay for this.

Re: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

I like it.
Simple but not boring.
A real landmark.
A tourist destination.
If we can get something that inspires half the interaction the 'bean' does, we're doing well.
Hope it's easy to clean!

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Or, just walk 10 mins and grab Taco Loco in east Somerville.
I know some progress is being made with trying to tie Assembly to East Somerville, but christ, it seems to move at a snails pace given...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

Couple of quick questions.
Is the Puma building going to be taller than the Partners building?
Has anything happened with parcel 8 in a while, seems to be moving much slower than the rest of the...

Re: Parcel JK | Cambridge Crossing | Cambridge

I would imagine the types of buildings that get built here is dictated mostly by the private sector. It's probably cheaper to build lower fatter buildings. It's probably more practical from a...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

If you're considering Boston the 21st biggest city in the US, then there has been no addition of any casino.
Metro Boston is an important region.

Re: Boynton Yards | 1-2 Earle Street | Somerville

boring lump of a building.
Doesn't instill much confidence when they cant get the route of the GLX right on their very first image. (it seems to be on McGrath Highway)

Re: Site in Hub top choice for a soccer stadium

the whole march to the match thing is actually not very European or South American. It's more of a MLS thing. MLS supporters groups looked at the behavior of fringe European ultras groups and made...

Re: Union Square Redevelopment | Somerville

I don't think it would hem anyone in, it would be between Rickys and what ever they build on the site of the police station. Yea, it would be one more junction on Somerville Ave, but I'd be alright...

Re: Union Square Redevelopment | Somerville

You can do it by doing a better job of knitting the new buildings in to the existing neighborhood.
For me, Rickys is a great example of natural urban regeneration. I think it looks great and acts...
