Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

oh and one more thing.. ridership is building. Every day I see more and more people. Today I had to sit next to someone on the way home because most seats were taken. We even had some standees after...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

So today on the Silver Line....

As I keep saying.."When it's good, its good. When it's bad, it's bad"

AM this morning was great. I had go in earlier to setup for a 7am meeting, so I was on the...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Yes I'd see alot of 111's becoming C's.

Difference is, good portion of the 111 travelers are between Haymarket and Cary Sq.. beyond Cary, ridership drops exponentially.

But I've been on the...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

That was my old AM walk. 116/117 kinda sucks in the evening (over crowed) like the 111, and the 112 is to infrequent to miss. Could try to catch the SL3 at Airport but again, a crap shoot at best....

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

*shrug*

Still better than sardines in a can on the 111. This is how I look at it.

After riding the T for 20 years, I've realized, unless you're going within the same town, it's always going to...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

The bus was fairly full.. atleast for the SL3. Most seats were taken. A couple of standees. I'd say ~40 or so people. A good number got on at Airport.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

So yeah.

As I said in a previous post.. the best way to describe the SL3 is:

"When it's good, it's good. But when it's bad, it's really bad"

Today, was no exception. As you can see from my...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

And I agree.. I tweeted (https://twitter.com/cybah/status/989604142472728576) while I was stuck to...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

It depends on who you ask. I've had some success but I had one bad snarfu on Thursday with the tunnel. I also didn't ride friday (day off).

But mornings its been pretty good. ~27-30 minutes as...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

_(ツ)_/ I don't work for the T.

But like many bus routes in this system, it isn't about boardings or making money, it's about providing a public service. This what makes public transit...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

No, Regional RTA's are testing them.. WRTA and Foothills transit have them

Problem: Charging Stations
Problem #2: Batteries aren't quite right for cold weather

So its coming. I really think...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

As a 112 rider.. yeah not a fan of any of this. You should come ride the 112 sometime, you'll see it's more of a service route for the elderly than anything else.

Everett Transit Plan has the 112...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

officially 10-12 minutes in Rush.

I think with 8 buses they could make it closer to 7 minutes which is comparable to the 111.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Electrification would be a waste of money now being so close to battery buses. Rather see us wait for the battery buses to be a viable thing. Then you wouldn't need the hybrids or dropping of the...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Yeah i think its a bit week, considering sometimes the 111 can be <5 minutes.

I think its more because they just don't have enough equipment. Maybe this will be a push to buy some more SL buses.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

We were told there would be up to 8. No new buses were purchased and they would be sending a few off to Maine to be redone (which I was told those are back now).

If you look at my video, you can...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Sat in traffic in the tunnel this morning, still made it to work on time.

It added a few minutes but not much.

Still the 111 gets stuck on the bridge so is it better? Prob not. I'd rather sit...

Maybe, see below

Well Yes, it is a federal rule so not much the city can do... HOWEVER, what's promising is the T (and probably to a lesser extent MassDOT) said in a public meeting at Chelsea...

Data, It's already happening. The City and State really want to push for all of this, especially the bridge.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Layovers are as follows for the SL3

Chelsea Station (yes, there's layover room), plus a busway exit into Market Basket's parking lot for buses to join or leave the route.

Courthouse Station,...

Well it's been quite the ride to say the least, but the Silver Line is now open. It opened this morning at @ 5:02am, and I was on the first ride and did a picture set, of course.

As...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Actually a while back there was some plan for a bus route to do exactly that but it was a NEW route. The route number it used was 113.

You know it would be SL branded bus

If anything...
