Re: Commonwealth Avenue Improvement Project

In most places, the bike lanes will be wide enough for a faster bicyclist to pass a slower one, except for when the bike lanes dip behind bus stops. The design intentionally forces bikes to go...

Re: Longfellow Bridge update

Correct. The outbound bike lane and sidewalk are both wider than on the inbound side because of MassDOT's willingness to provide one rather than two outbound travel lanes. Advocates preferred and...

Re: Longfellow Bridge update

Does it bother anyone else that they painted the inside railing and lighting black but the outside railing and lighting the brown/green color? Shouldn't they all be the same?

Re: Brookline Developments

I wonder if it has to do with Brookline's high off-street parking requirements.

Re: Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Cranky neighbors afraid of change (and who didn't want to lose a few parking spaces)

Re: The New Retail Thread

Yes Blue Bottle is now open there, and Red Barn has moved out! Not sure if/where they moved somewhere nearby or just closed that location altogether. It's a shame really because Red Barn is locally...

Re: Logan Airport Capital Projects

Question about the SL1: Currently, it only loops around the arrivals level, and people get off AND on the bus at each stop, correct? What if the SL1 looped around the departures level to drop...

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I think it almost always makes sense to have commuter rail to subway transfer at the end of the subway line. That would also make the Alewife garage useful for people taking commuter rail, and that...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Boston has a bunch of new licenses that are restricted to certain areas and may not be resold. If no longer used, they must be returned to the City. I'll have to look up the exact numbers.

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

If commuter rail ends up being converted into Regional Rail as proposed by Transit Matters, I think you could just add a stations on the Fitchburg Line at Union Square in Somerville (to allow...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

It's almost like it would have made sense to electrify all of SL2! But we wouldn't want those "unslightly" wires! :-P

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I'm guessing it was due to the time of day, but I loved in the videos that the D St signal was flashing red. Can BTD just set it that way 24/7?!

Re: Winter Garden | 100 Federal St. | Financial District

They had the Marathon on the big screen on Monday. Quite a few people were watching as they ate lunch.

Re: The next BIG skyscraper to BLOCK

This is a logical fallacy. Name one park that people don't go to because there are too many shadows.

Post Office Square (Leventhal Park) is one of the most popular and most loved in all the city,...

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

What is "authentic"? Many of the neighborhoods we love today and consider to be historic and authentic were built by a handful of developers as tract housing. The triple decker, the brownstone, they...

Well hey at least Springfield is getting the biggest parking garage I've ever seen out of the deal. Just what they needed! :-D

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

I was over in Assembly on Saturday, and it's really shaping up nicely. (And the new Orange Line test train was out next to the station for testing!) The whole area was bustling with families,...

Re: General Boston Discussion.

They did propose to build an indoor winter garden (which I would assume would have some retail in it) in front of the the Hancock Tower, but the neighbors flipped out at losing their precious "open...

Re: Boston - Most Embarrassing Blight That Tourists See

Good question about restaurants near the MFA. Whenever I visit, I'll often look for a place nearby for a bite, but I almost always end up somewhere in Fenway rather that on or near Huntington. The...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

When the signals go in, are they going to be set up so that they turn green as a bus is approaching, or will they be in typical Boston fashion where the bus has to pull up the intersection and wait?...
