Re: Kenmore Square North

Agreed. Putting aside that the building there should not be destroyed, this actually looks pretty decent. I appreciate the rhythm created by repetition as well as the depth.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Nobody said anything about 95% of the college graduates. The fact is my company has 1100 engineers who all make (considerably) more than $71k. People squawking about how nobody can afford to live in...

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

As a hiring manager at a technology company in Kendall Square, I can tell you the lowest salary for an engineer at my company is $71,500. That is for a BS and no work experience. And it goes up every...

Re: The New Retail Thread

I agree with this. The article is mostly about expensive restaurants going out of business - places that cost $50, $100, or more per person. There are a lot of people making a lot of money in Boston,...

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

I was not aware, honestly. Do you happen to know when the Pru was cleaned last?

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Improving energy efficiency is likely to be only reason to change the appearance of the Pru.

What is the ROI on cleaning? I don't believe they are having any trouble leasing their space even if...

Re: MXD | 145 Broadway/250 Binney | Kendall Square

They cut car parking by 47% and increased bike parking by 22%. I love seeing those numbers move in the right direction!

For reference, 325 Main Street is 4 stories and contains The COOP and a...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Oops, that's my mistake. I was picturing another building.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The claim was the tallest office tower since 111 Huntington.

Re: MIT Museum/Boeing | 314 Main St. | Kendall Square

True, they bought BBN several years ago.

Re: MIT Museum/Boeing | 314 Main St. | Kendall Square

I really like the building and the museum element, but I think the biggest story here is Boeing moving in as a tenant. The defense industry is all over Mass, but not in the urban core. This could...

Re: MXD | 145 Broadway/250 Binney | Kendall Square

I walk by this multiple time per day and catch glimpses of it at various points on my bike commute through Cambridge and Somerville. It is, IMO, pretty much fantastic by Cambridge standards. Granted...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I think he is trying to say: Consider what you would do if you were in the architect's shoes. If it were YOUR decision to make and YOUR paycheck at stake, how much would you care about every last...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Most of these seem like really long lines to have no express service. Don't you think some of these distant communities aren't better served by CR/EMU with many fewer stops? I can't imagine riding...

Re: Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower (GCG Phase I) | 50 Sudbury St | Gov't Center

Hi Kriterion,

I see you are new here and we really appreciate seeing new members again! I just want to mention that that particular question is a bit of a forum etiquette faux pas. When there is...

Re: New Yorkers want to move to Boston

I could argue the exact opposite - the similarities between Boston and New York make Boston an easy "second choice" if things aren't working out for one in New York. That is exactly how I ended up...

Re: Official City Hall Plaza Proposals

How about some shipping container retail along Cambridge Street? It is quick to go in, probably not too heavy for underground support structure, and can be cleared out quickly enough if there was...

Re: The New Retail Thread

This is true. Given the present state of our screwed up system, even restricted licences effectively increase supply across the city. But it is slow and reactionary. We have a system that guarantees...

Re: The New Retail Thread

I think Jumbo makes a good point about liquor licenses compounding the problem for bars. Rent also factors in, of course, but I don't think it is right to describe every rent increase as...

Re: What's Happening With Project X?

Also, you cannot copy articles in their entirety. You can get aB into trouble that way. Leaving off the last 2 sentences isn't enough.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Yeah, that is too bad. I liked the Highball, even though I didn't go very often. This new name and concept are a big turnoff to me.
