Re: Northern Avenue Bridge Fort Point Channel

The contextual version (3rd bridge option) in the second video is an instant icon, I think. The reinterpreted version is strange, and the basic is, well, basic..

Re: Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower (GCG Phase I) | 50 Sudbury St | Gov't Center

Nice pics.

I believe this was a design consideration. Might be thinking of something else though..

Re: Kenmore Square North

Windows and interiors will be removed next week, with significant demo starting the 19th, might be pushed back to the 26th.

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

That shot of the casino on slide 15 is pretty clever. All the industrial land (including the power complex) is covered either by the casino or out of frame, and all you really see is the casino...

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

I thought it was determined a while ago that they essentially shot themselves in the foot by eliminating the staging for the air rights by building this first set of buildings and that it had become...

Re: 401 Park Drive (formerly Landmark Center) | Fenway

I might be having trouble positioning myself in the picture here, but isn't this where blick has always been?

Re: Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

The MBTA is trying to spend nearly $1 billion/year on maintenence projects, and I have a feeling that's actually going to rise soon. They also have several billion dollars worth of capital projects...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Sort of on the topic of the Red Line, anybody using it in their daily commute? I don't, but yesterday I tried to use it on a trip to Cambridge. Keyword: tried. DTX platform was packed heading to...

Re: Cambria Hotel | 6 West Broadway | South Boston

It's a good size facility. There are stationary green and blue line cars for emergency training, as well as classroom space.

Re: Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

Would the construction of the inner belt have eliminated the need for Storrow and Memorial Drive to be as important as they are today? Admittedly, I haven't looked much into it, but I'm imagining...

Re: Back Bay parking lot sells for 40 million

I don't think they're going to go cheap here. They won't be allowed to. The Back Bay Architectural Commission will also be reviewing this.

Looking at their investment profile, they tend to fit in...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

The front gates at wellington are open more than they're closed.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Yeah, I know. It's just comical to see them pop up in the midst of people calling One Dalton ugly or complaining about how it's only for the rich.

Re: Crossroads at Kenmore | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square

Not new, but revisiting the old renders/designs, I'm growing more and more interested in this atrium. Wish they could provide more info on it.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

I've been trying to avoid the comments section for a while now, but visited today for a laugh. Particularly loving the lists of (no exaggeration) 45 buildings and their respective heights.

Re: Unbuilt railroads

I remember seeing this a while ago. Still in awe at the planned size of the Needham Yard. That would've been a sight to see.

Re: North Washington St Bridge

Can't give a solid answer without seeing it better/in person but sounds like geofoam, which would make sense. Just as you describe, it's "Styrofoam" filler used in construction as a lightweight...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

They're not entirely lying. There are no major track issues, yes, but minor enhancements and repairs will actually help with the longevity of the new cars' mechanicals, power system, and the rider...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I witnessed at least 5 tourists/suburbanites not understand first door boarding today. Making it clearer that you should board at the first door to pay your fare might also help.

I also have a...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The trees on top of the hotel look ridiculous IMO. Roof gardens are fine, but this one just sticks out like a sore thumb saying "I shouldn't be here"

Re: The Boston "what if" thread

GE phase 2 is ready to go and looking for a tenant.

Probably Kendall if anything though.

Re: Downtown Crossing

Anybody more versed in real estate and finance want to provide their opinion on WeWork rapidly taking over office space? I have two naive concerns.

1. The company itself seems to be going through...
