Re: Future HealthCare Co headquaters will be based in Boston

The robber barons of old gave us parks, libraries and museums. Will the new ones bring us affordable healthcare?

Re: North-South Rail Link

It's not supposed to be funded. It's a study to kill the idea.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I kinda like the Congress option best. They make a good point that we don't need to keep the stations in the same place, which were dictated by circumstantial over 100 years ago, and can be built...

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

The ICA really gets lost in the mess of glass boxes.

Re: The Lucas | 136 Shawmut Ave | South End

Zoning incentives. This is a hold over from the 1961 zoning code which allowed taller buildings if developers built public plazas out front. They work in small doses but the more you have the more...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I've always argued the value of background buildings. Except for One Canal I have no issue with these as they fill in the urban fabric fine. One Canal was the place for a landmark building and it's...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

That would have gone a long way to restoring the lost mile of the Charles but it was bad transit. Once the NS Link is built the need for North Station as a hub is greatly lessened. It's only real...

Re: North-South Rail Link

Elon Musk is a distraction from real transit problems. Chicago never has money for transit so this isn't really surprising.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The city realized the mistakes of the past and have done a good job of infilling the city. But the West End especially is probably a lost cause. It's mostly privately owned by people who have money...

Re: Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part X (2017)

The thing that I always forget about Boston (maybe because I spend too much time here) is how successful it really is as a city. On Twitter the other day I spotted a picture taken along a tram line...

Re: New Yorkers want to move to Boston

I don't believe it. After you've lived in NYC it's hard to move anywhere smaller. Even my old roommate who moved to LA told me pretty much everyone out there is from NY anyway!

I did and he popped back in for a second to activate some members. He asked me about having some members take over but then fell off again before anything was settled.
