Re: Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

All below grade parking garages have pumps that would be used to dewater. In general, there is very little water in these garages.

On the rare occasion (however often anyone really thinks this...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Good to see.
Reading those (blech) tweets is painful though.
Good reminder that I will never ever have that "service".

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Well. You don't buy 1500 cars and expect delivery of 1500 cars at once.
You buy a contract for 1500 cars at a set price (typically a better price for buying in bulk), and accept delivery of cars...

Re: 401 Park Drive (formerly Landmark Center) | Fenway

Instead of being a dick.... yes. It is maddening, that this was allowed to come to pass.
Snarky histrionics not withstanding.

Re: MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

Shows you the difference between MIT buildings and MITIMCo buildings.
Buildings 2 & 5 are MITIMCo while building 4 is by MIT proper.

The others are not turning heads with their aesthetics, while...

Re: Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Woulda been better if the city hadn't dicked around with getting Castle Island their permit for here as well. Coulda been a real happening spot. Hopefully someone else trys again.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Neat. Though I would fail them on the test as the left hand doors shouldn't have opened as there is no center platform.
But, that's why it's a test and not a revenue run.

Re: MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

^^^
Doesn't this have it's own thread?
This is not part of MIT's development.
This is a BP building.

Re: EXP | 795 Columbus Avenue | Northeastern University

Architect is Payette. Same architect as building 1.
The difference between University money and private money on the waterfront.

Re: South Boston Infill and Small Projects

What does one mark things down to at the dollar store to draw customers?
Is it me or is an "Everything half off!" Sign at the dollar store seem absurd to anyone else?

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I mean, in reality, there are many dual income households where each adult is making $150-200k each. I'm not one of them, but there are many.

Two people cohabiting and making $200k each could...

Re: Volpe Transportation Center Development | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

I have maples on one side of my house, and a big oak on the other side. Come raking season you learn the difference real quick.
Raking maples end of October early November. Raking oak leaves well...

Re: Parcel JK | Cambridge Crossing | Cambridge

Wondering why the exhaust stacks stayed since the building went office vs. lab?
Maybe there is still plans to include some, or to be ready for the future.
Are there actually high plume lab exhaust...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

For now.
Is that necessarily a good thing?
If they can fill 300k SF with a single tenant, why not build 400k (if upzoning further were approved)?

Question is, are they building to the height of...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

Fair points. Would that we didn't have to deal with antiquated zoning, but it is here and a real cost adder/hindrance.

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

On the other hand, one of my points was very valid for Kendall. Most the developers here are capable of getting financing/able to build with a much smaller first tenant. ARE, BioMed, MITIMCo, BP,...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

To the point of scaling mentioned earlier, this is true, but not that cut and dry.

While yes, scaling labs gets expensive quick, scaling office space, not as much.
There are ranges where costs...
