Re: Framingham, MA

62+ is too old to think they will attract tenants. It needs to be 55+. Maybe Natick forced them to do 62+ but it's just going to end in failure. It's literally next door to a major employer too.

Re: Framingham, MA

So the new hotel at the Natick Mall is going to be branded Residence Inn. They are almost done it looked like. Still don't know why they built a hotel although this is the same people who thought 62+...

Re: The New Office Thread

Mildly interesting, this list of office properties in Boxborough and which ones are seeking for abatements. There's one that's completely empty and another that has 60% vacancy. Even the one that...

Re: Foxboro Weekday Service Pilot

Ah, you're right. I only looked at the time, neglecting to see if it was home or not. I've heard that the Patriots Train is really popular too but as you said it's just one night.

Re: Foxboro Weekday Service Pilot

Thing is, if you live north of the stadium, you're likely better off driving to Walpole, and South to Mansfield because of the limited stops. Now since Mansfield is Zone 6 that might get some people...

Re: Foxboro Weekday Service Pilot

Seems they had to rob Walpole service but at the same time Walpole keeps it's limited stops service so they might be OK with it.

Are they going to offer service to get people home from the two...

Re: Fantasy T maps

The idea in general is to relieve pressure on Alewife, which is a disaster area. Something on/over? Route 2 might be politically easier to get built in theory, since there's so much opposition to...

Re: Fantasy T maps

Wait, Blue to Lynn would mean building new tracks on the marsh? There's no way the Feds would allow that, would they?

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail

The whole point of startups is to make the founder (and VCs...) rich on the backs of college kids who don't know any better. Boston has lots of college kids... Fall River does not. Going cheap on...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

On what tracks? You could do Indigo pretty easy in theory without messing up too much.

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail

Because there aren't much in the way in good jobs in Providence. Doesn't really make sense.

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail

Figure someone with real estate investments near the stops bribed the right people to get SCR done. That's why the Big Dig happened and why GLX eventually happened, and why something like Red-Blue...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

My take is that the MBTA is saying that they don't want to do electrification. Which I find surprising.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Kind of surprised the people waiting at the stop didn't seem too concerned at all, given how close the train was to the platform.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Dunno, given it's location (kind of have to drive there) I don't know if a brewery is such a good idea.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Wouldn't hurt to build some housing there, spice things up a bit.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Apparently there was a suicide by train last night near the Newtonville CR stop. Don't think there's anything the MBTA can do to prevent this, sadly.

Re: Framingham, MA

Went by the Senior housing being built next to the Natick Mall. Didn't realize they are 62+, that's just silly.

Also what I guess is the hotel has what looks like Fake brick in the lower portion...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

They don't have to do anything, but Harvard wants the GJ being used they will have to use their clout to get it done. I still think if they don't, the end result will be the Junction being dismantled.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

:30 might be good enough for Harvard though, as a perk to New West Station residents. They can always take B or the Worcester Line if they need additional options. And if anything GJ ends up...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Oh I dunno, Kendall is one of the biggest employers of people who live in Newton/Weston/Wellesley/Natick/Framingham. And they are almost entirely driving. Whether you could convert them to taking...

Re: The Boston "what if" thread

Raytheon will have to move Downtown eventually, but they can resist if they want for awhile. My experience is that they tend to have older workers who have a car. Plus, I'm not sure if 9/80 works if...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Just kind of curious, does (either?) employer offer free parking?

South Side ridership is up quite a bit.

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

I generally agree with what they are implying, but making the non-1A 128 CR stops cheaper at the expense of making outside 128 stops more expensive is not going to go over well, especially since it's...
