Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

I think we're talking about different streets. I'm saying re-purpose Beacham Street right at Sullivan next to the Charlestown garage. It lines up directly with the old bridge piers and funnels...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

What about re-using the old piers next to the Alford Street bridge for a bus-only bridge and re-purposing of Beacham Street as a bus-only street heading into Sullivan? Put a new signal on the...

Re: Green Line Reconfiguration

In the long term, would it be wise to open a CR platform at College Avenue, close the CR platform at West Medford, and extend the GL to High Street with a new West Medford station?

This appears to...

Re: Boston Landing Station Residences (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

Realizing they were sitting on a gold mine, Safeway has developed several of its DC properties with significant residential above. The stores benefit by being able to wholesale renovate their space...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I'm curious if anyone has any updates on the AFC 2.0 RFQ/P process and if the T is still anticipating a summer 2019 roll-out.

Re: Offical City Hall Plaza Proposals

I recently asked about the feasibility of reintroducing Cornhill in the Government Center thread but no responses. So, I'll ask again here: is this even possible?

What was Cornhill is now an...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Does Suffolk Downs station allow pedestrian through access? Or is access over the tracks a paid fare area only?

Re: Sullivan Square Superstation/Transport Hub

F-Line spelled out in another thread why a Sullivan commuter rail station isn't feasible with the I-93 viaduct overhead.

If that's the issue, let's nuke the existing viaduct and descend I-93 north...

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail

Would it be cheaper and more feasible reconfigure the red line tracks north of JFK-UMass so that both branches serve the same platform and both branches serve Savin Hill? This way you still free up...

Re: The New Retail Thread

I'm disappointed one of the new Flour locations isn't Coolidge Corner. The former Walgreens space at the corner of Beacon and Harvard would be a killer location for one. It's a big space, but I have...

Re: Government Center Redesign

There are a few questions I've been thinking about at Government Center:

1. Has anyone here on the board looked into the feasibility of reintroducing Cornhill and Hanover through the plaza? It's...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Well done! These are always fun to view, and since this is the internet, critique.

Overall I think this is going in the right direction, but the Green Line trunk is just overwhelming. There has to...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Operationally, what about branching the Orange Line just south of Jackson Square and tunneling to Ashmont via Atherton, Columbus, Seaver, Washington, and Talbot? Totally crazy, indeed, and expensive!...

Re: Green Line Reconfiguration

Obviously.

My original question still stands. Does this development preclude E branch realignment discussed in this thread?

Re: Green Line Reconfiguration

http://archboston.org/community/showpost.php?p=258232&postcount=330

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

While visiting London last year I was surprised that their regional/commuter rail system used faregates (they also had ticket checkers on board). What's our hold-up here in implementing a similar...

Re: Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

They have closed off the Water Street sidewalk and are currently having fun smashing windows. Does flickr work for posting images? Couldn't get the images to show up.

Re: Funding Source and Work Plan for Transit Expansion

Thank you for clarifying my intent with this thread. I was trying to ask these questions: what is a portfolio of projects that the T should sell to the public as a 30-year investment plan for SOGR...

Funding Source and Work Plan for Transit Expansion

Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I've been following the transit discussions on this board for a while and while we all love to debate the merits and technical feasibility of...

Re: Gov't Center Station Rebuild

The payback is that you have an unobstructed Green Line platform to better handle pedestrian flows and peak platform loading. It's more comfortable for customers. No one has built heavy rail stations...

Re: Gov't Center Station Rebuild

Riding through the station I'm again struck by the number of columns in the platform. Would it have been feasible to wholesale replace the station roof/plaza floor with new steel that could bear...

JFK/UMass Configuration

I was thinking over the weekend about the bizarre configuration of the JFK/UMass station, and how potentially incredible it could be.

The rapid transit portion of the station is split into two...

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Interesting read about leftover money from old FHWA earmarks. Maybe the state could direct MA's $111 million portion of unobligated funds toward narrowing the Green Line funding gap?...

Re: Government Center

I like this, but would only make Hanover open to vehicles. The other streets should all stay as pedestrian and bicycle only and building heights should be scaled appropriately for a "human"...
