Re: Unbuilt roads around metro Boston

Seriously, check out this stretch (https://www.google.com/maps/@42.4202876,-70.9898575,3a,75y,58.68h,91.15t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sEP6aFdaCgEiROwrlbaefsg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) of 1A in the Oak Island...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Pictures were taken from 40 Water St., yes? But inside the new glass box, or below it in the original Victorian-era building? <I'm guessing the new glass box>

Re: The New Retail Thread

Hm... well, now that you've clarified like that--perhaps you're right! I just took it as a given that as soon as the scaffolding went up in late 2017, there was continuous work happening, even if the...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Actually, the scaffolding went up in late 2017 as I recall and the renovation has been continuous since then, you've always been able to see workers working behind the canvas wrap--they demolished...

Re: Rose Kennedy Greenway

I cannot conceive of a better antidote to the incessantly insufferable Minnesotan, Garrison Keillor.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Well, the name is no misnomer--the brewery can't be more than a 10-minute drive from the Mt. Wachusett trailhead, just on the north side of Rte. 2. And of course the actual hike of the mountain is so...

Re: Brutalist Revival

Which ones are actually at risk? (and you can't mention any government-held ones, because, with government moving at the speed of... government, I see City Hall and the Lindemann Center as being...

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Indeed, this crowds the Pike in such a pleasing way. Check out the reticulation on that guy!

Re: Harvard Square: Transformation

Please do explain in depth & detail. Especially because of this (http://www.citiesjournal.com/5-ugliest-college-campuses-in-the-us/) enduring reality. Compounded by the forbidding/desolate character...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Funny you should mention Oakley. I happen to be an abutter (more or less) on the downslope side closer to Mt. Auburn Cemetery. It's great to walk past it to head up to Moozy's on a nice day for some...

Isn't Czervik Construction practically obligated to quote Caddyshack [in particular, clip below] at this juncture?

Re: Dorm Tower @ Emerson College | 1-3 Boylston Place | Downtown

Good distinction re: clubs/tenants vs. the ambiance of the overall place. And really, I was only ripping on that former Big Easy club, which [allegedly] strived for a New Orleans/Mardi Gras...

Re: Dorm Tower @ Emerson College | 1-3 Boylston Place | Downtown

Seriously. Who cares that a handful of tacky sleazy grungy clubs were lost in Boylston Place? There's still only dozens of that exact same grope-y roofie coolatta ilk in the Stuart Street area. I...

Re: Downtown Crossing

Not to belittle Midwood's achievement with the 1 Milk St. restoration/renovation in any way, but it was "only" that, a renovation/restoration. As opposed to a full-blown demolition/redevelopment,...

Re: Providence developments

Thanks, F-Line, for your typically comprehensive and nuanced overview. I've probably done the 7:45 am from Wickford to South Station (arriving 9:40 am per the schedule) about a dozen times. It's...

Re: Providence developments

I'm confused--you're not saying the T wants to truncate service on the Providence CR line by dropping Wickford Junction as a stop and bring the new terminus up north to TF Green*? Sorry if I'm taking...

Re: Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downto

If they don't, I think they'll have a very seriously complicated, messy problem and potential public relations debacle on their hands. Look how their 12 Hemenway project is described:

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Ah, good point--I assumed it already was! Again, I was trying to make a very simple comparison: leaving aside the vast differences in structural design/complexity and construction technique, I was...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I think you're overanalyzing a very simple comparison I was trying to make. As folks have pointed out, it's an apples-to-oranges scenario in the first place--except, all I'm doing is merely pointing...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I went trolling around the Suffolk Const. website and couldn't find anything... are you sure this isn't a rumor--or did you hear there was one from an actual Suffolk Const. employee?

Meanwhile, I...

Thanks for posting all of those, Stick.

I'm impressed with how there's just as much density, apparently, for the proposals on the west side of I-95 trench as there is for the ones on the east...

Re: Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

[QUOTE=BeeLine;345983]It looks like we have two structures left to be renovated/refurbished. 13-15 Congress and 19-21 Congress. I thought I had heard that 13-15 Congress was to become another...

Your optimism is laudable and I hope it all comes to pass like you say. However, consider all the surface parking lots pockmarking the prime Downtown core. I count at least a dozen from a quick...

Re: Tremont Crossing | Roxbury

Better to say, how many theaters can this market (however "this market" is objectively construed) support, given how "how many theaters does this city need?" is ultimately a rhetorical question.
