Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

I want to say 3-4 years ago they presented the plans, and the neighborhood association was vehemently against it. They refused to give up their legal (660) and illegal (Kensington) pick up/drop off...

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

I'm glad this was approved before the luxury building next door. I wouldn't have wanted the new residents to then turn and oppose this project next door.

We saw that happen at the Kensington where...

Re: MGH Expansion | 275 Cambridge Street | West End

"for Children and Adults" - why is that necessary in the name?

Re: Crossroads at Kenmore | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square

Their proposed square is in the middle of the intersection surrounded by roads with the exception of their building on one side. Wouldn't it be more accessible if it where the "bend Beacon"...

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

In what's news to me, the Somerville Bike Committee's newsletter shows that bus lanes are coming to Broadway in Somerville through Winter Hill and there's a community meeting about it on Monday the...

Re: Crossroads at Kenmore | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square

I like it, but they still left that "left turn of death" for cyclists from Comm Ave onto Brookline Ave. With cycle tracks everywhere, it's weird that they still expect people on bikes to cut over 3...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

When they were showing the mockup at City Hall they explained that those screens needed housings that large "because". They didn't have an explanation when I pointed out that buses didn't seem to...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

What does Muni do to maintain theirs? Aside from a different climate, wouldn't they be experiencing the same issues?

Re: 60 Kilmarnock St | Fenway

Actually, compared to the September presentation, it looks like the sole retail spot was reduced by 2/3.

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

This is for more New Flyer hybrids. It was an option on the previous order to buy more.

Re: Biking in Boston

The mixing zones along the SWC don't force pedestrians and cyclists to cross over each other's paths at every intersection. On the new Arborway, you have the bike lane along the roadway and then the...

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Ok so I'm not the only one who has never heard of the brand. When it was first announced I was ready to complain about naming a hotel after a bag of Ruffles chips. Had to do some research to see what...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I agree with jass. The locations being pointed out aren't because of faulty signals or old equipment, but because at one point in the past few decades, someone didn't look for a green line trolley...

Re: Green Line Type 10 Procurement

The Type 10s will. And that procurement will start very shortly after these 9s and the Green Line Extension get up and running. Type 10 will be a full fleet replacement.

Re: General Infrastructure

Are you saying there is no induced demand onto side streets from giving more priority to the East Boston on-ramp?

Re: General Infrastructure

Exactly. Why would they prioritize an on-ramp over the highway which is just continuing its route into downtown?

When the highway flow is prioritized, there is no reason to filter through East...

Re: General Infrastructure

The main goal of this project was to tighten up the entry to the tunnel and restore the street network of nearby streets. For years residents wanted this area to feel more like a neighborhood and not...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

The MBTA has become so reluctant to drop trips that they're really screwing up on-time performance.

I take the 131 frequently. There are two buses on the route at rush hour and they alternate...

Re: The New Retail Thread

It appears to just be accessible within the store. I understand wanting to bring people inside to see displays and such, but this will probably just mean a bunch of empty Starbucks cups littered in...

Re: MIT Museum/Boeing | 314 Main St. | Kendall Square

Why would we need to cross post? Think of it like the Seaport: it's all one master plan, but each project has a different thread even though many are being constructed simultaneously (though some...

Re: Columbus Ave Student Housing | 10 Burke St | Northeastern University

I lived in Loftman Hall on Hemenway St. 2 double rooms, 1 single room. The total rent that one 3 bedroom unit brought in was around $5,000/month. They charge much more for the new buildings and pay...

Re: Columbus Ave Student Housing | 10 Burke St | Northeastern University

?? When I went to NU I moved off campus because I could save thousands. I went from a shared room in an older building ($950 per month) to my own room in an apartment with friends in Mission Hill for...

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

Aha! I knew there was a tower portion to the 48 Boylston BYMCU project!

For some reason every mention of this phase disappeared and you could only find info on the renovation of the existing...

Re: Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

I would say a LOT has changed in the last 6 years. Seems the state senator just might not have wanted to pursue it back then? The cars having "claim" to it makes no sense. Does that mean she didn't...
