Re: Red Line / Blue Line Connector

21 years??

21 years is a ridiculous amount of time. In the last 21 years, the Beijing Subway has expanded by 20 lines, 350 stations, and about 350 HRT track miles. What the fuck? Can somebody...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

I'm excluding the Seaport, if that wasn't clear.

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

What if a very small congestion zone was piloted for proof of concept? Just an area of Downtown Boston, from Government Center to Chinatown to South Station, that does not apply to vehicles passing...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

With that being said, it appears they layover five trains on an average weekday. The first five inbound runs from Wachusett start before the last outbound gets out there.

Studying ridership data...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

How many trains can layover at the Wachusett Yard in Westminster? I see that there are six tracks that are 1,000 feet long. Does this mean only six trains can layover there, or is there room for more?

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

That's fair. I only want to attest to the mistaken Waltham numbers on those runs. The Zone 2 speculation was only a tiny bit of speculation. The main point is the incorrect Waltham data for those two...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Apologies for the double post:

Upon closer examination of the editable data in Excel, Trains 494 and 424 are the only inbound Fitchburg Line trains that are mysteriously missing from the count...

I found errors in their data, and I'm unsure how to report that information.

For example:

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

I agree. So how we do we implement policy that combats these externalities, in a society in which the average person is (willfully) ignorant of said externalities, and completely unwilling to support...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

I strongly disagree with what DZH22 is saying, and at times his responses have been rooted more in trolling than honest discussion, but DZH22's base response to congestion zone tolling is in line...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

Logistically, I donít believe the Seaport should be included in the zone. At least to start. Rather, I believe the Fort Point Channel should be the cutoff. This is logistically an easier barrier, as...

A congestion charge should be used to pay for the best solutions to congestion. Period.

No Route 60 (MA-60) bus service connecting squares always struck me as a missed opportunity for connectivity. This change is a step in the right direction on that front.
