Re: Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

The developer has expressed interest in using the mountain division line somehow. I haven't heard any details beyond that, but I'd love to see a DMU run on that line daily between Steep Falls and...

Re: Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

Well, I do think they have the financial motivation to see this through. All of the infrastructure improvements that have happened at Exit 48 last year and this year, as well as the on-going...

Re: Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

I went to the Planning Board meeting the other night. The concert venue has flipped around to face north-easterly towards Exit 48 (previously it was facing south-easterly towards the...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

That's my thinking on this - bid for 20 stories and when the NIMBYs lose their minds over unsubstantiated wind concerns and tall buildings potentially eating people, go for something in the 12-16...

Re: Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

During the planning board meeting they did say that this was a temporary situation to provide proof-of-concept, and they'll consider expanding if it works.

Re: Jetport

This probably has more to do with competition, from both airlines and other airports, than anything.

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

I'm hearing that there are now plans on the drawing board. I haven't heard any details of that plan other than the existence of a plan. Probably won't be long before something is announced.

Re: Portland Bayside

I wouldn't be surprised if this whole fiasco up-ended Federated as a company. You can't pour millions of dollars into planning something on this scale and get nothing out of it. Banks and financiers...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

Excellent sleuthing markhb!

"Eventual road to the cool part" made me chuckle. It's funny, because it's true.

That skinny retail building looks like it's going to be a row of quick-serve style...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

Personally it's a sacrifice I'd be willing for the city to make to get what's planned for the rest of the parcel. While I loathe the traditional strip mall parking-in-front look, as long as there are...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Yeah, I like the updates to 178 Kennebec Street as well. I think that building and the Glickman Library diagonally across the highway will compliment each other nicely with that color scheme.

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

It'll be interesting to see what the Planning Board thinks about this, because I believe their preference was for the developers to build against the road and have parking behind that. The Gateway...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Looks like they're drawing from the same color palette as what was proposed for midtown:

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

Site works seems to have ground to a halt there lately. I haven't seen much activity other than the Hampton Inn going up (which isn't part of the development).

I wonder if this has to go back...

Re: Portland Bayside

Well, hopefully the lawsuit being settled frees the land up to be sold and developed by someone else. I'm tired of waiting for Federated to do something. I can't blame them for everything the city...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

People in this area have a clinical fear of change. The older they get, the worse that fear. Any change, even if it is an improvement, is seen as bad.

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

I'd love to see them go downtown, but I have a sneaking suspicion they'll end up here:

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

No, our local kill-joy NIMBY organization Keep Portland Livable thinks that buildings over 6 stories eat people, so we can't have nice things now.
