Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

^ Yeah, that 100 Fore Street rendering is rather hideous.

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

^ Some of those buildings could be in Portland – the city line is about 350' west of the Turnpike right of way. That land is actually owned by the City – there are about 18 acres of city-owned land...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

They gave Fore Street, Hancock and Franklin higher building heights when they wrote the new "form-based" zoning code a few years ago – basically yielding to the precedent of the huge Ocean Gateway...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

With respect, but IMHO this city needs more brick like we need a hole in the head.

The old Benkay building was approved under the historic preservation board a couple years ago for a renovation,...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

I don't really think that South Portland's oil tanks are the issue – after all, they're still selling million-dollar condos down the street in the new 20 Thames building (with views of the Ocean...

Re: Portland Bayside

Oops, you're right! I just double-checked the city's parcels map – Jackrabbit only owns the VA/Chase Leavitt/SMRT warehouse, while Cohen owns the WEX site to the south and the Hamilton Marine...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

My reading is that everything in the rendering is phase 1, and the "part of" refers to the fact that the Phase 2 building will share a party wall with the Phase 1 building.

Also of note: this...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

^ Interesting. It has not gone to the planning board yet, and I suspect they're trying to pre-sell some units before they go ahead with detailed plans and permitting.

I've always thought that...
