Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Obviously it will, and there will be a backup at the bridge over Chelsea River too. But the question is that even with traffic is this still a better option than the buses down Meridian St or any...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

What would the running times be for SL to Malden vs Sullivan? Maybe it would make more sense to just run it to Sullivan as there are plenty of radial bus lines that serve Everett and Chelsea. The...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

The problem is there's no space for it without expensive on/off ramps.

The East Boston side looks simple, just drop Chelsea St down and rework the frontage roads to move traffic further south. ...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

This is the most telling line in the article. This is the very problem facing upgrading US infrastructure, namely that politicians balk at spending money for crucial upgrades and renovations because...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

That grade crossing seems dicey. Why not just build a flyover for the bus lane?

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I'm sure this was covered somewhere but what are the ridership projections between Chelsea and Airport and Airport and South Station? I'm assuming more people will get off at Airport than ride to...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

It connects to the Surface Rd (that's the name) which runs to the airport and connects to the Ted Williams Tunnel. (Map (https://www.google.com/maps/@42.378498,-71.0252163,19z)) There are a lot of...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea (Study Meeting)

Considering how many bus lines go through the Sumner/Callahan tunnels I'd say it might be best to install non-Sliver Line HOV bus lanes along Rt 1A and the Salem Turnpike (107). You don't need to...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea (Study Meeting)

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea (Study Meeting)

The Silver Line along Washington St works despite itself. It needs less stops, signal priority and enforced dedicated lanes. Ironically that was all planned for but never got off the drawing boards...
