Re: Bayside Expo Center Redevelopment | Columbia Point | Dorchester

Wouldn't that be a natural extension of the JFK Library, UMass circulators that already run in the general area?

Re: Bayside Expo Center Redevelopment

Transit oriented housing make a lot of sense.

It could also use some neighborhood retail to service that island of housing plus Harbor Point next door. (Area does feel very isolated when I bike...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

That is the general pattern seen elsewhere. Usually, though, you issue bonds to improve transit first, then apply the congestion tolls to pay back the bonds. Carrot and stick. Better transit AND...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Excellent. I did not realize BPDA had bought into the concept. Nice work!

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

This is exactly what I think every time I see Canal Street from the new arcade at the Hub on Causeway. Pedestrian mall Canal Street now!

Re: Crazy Airport Pitches

Oh my, there are so many reasons why this won't happen.

1) environmental restrictions. It is probably virtually impossible to expand the landfill in Boston harbor at this point.

2) deep(er)...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

We hardly need the Chinese to disrupt the morning commute in Boston.

We have the MBTA!

Also a few small property line windows.

Re: General Infrastructure

It is all well and good that you have some decent rationales for your location choice, but it is totally a political non-starter.

No one gets to build a major international airport in that close...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

And the icing on the cake for Friday evening's commute... now Red Line delays due to a medical emergency at JFK/UMass.

Re: Ollie | 217 Albany St | South End

The Harrison-Albany Corridor zoning specifically calls for a higher spine along Albany Street to provide a buffer from the highway. This proposal makes perfect sense.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Liberty Mutual is actually limestone veneer panel -- so the facing material is real limestone, just rather thin. And the limestone is from the same quarry in Indiana that was the source for the...

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

I think the challenge you are facing in the limestone facade proposal is cost.

For Liberty Mutual, that building was bespoke construction of a headquarters complex they fully expect to occupy for...

Re: Logan Airport Capital Projects

I think it is a mistake that the APM is not a bi-directional full loop.

With the BL and Economy Parking always at a tail end, Terminals A and B are highly disadvantaged in transit and cheap...

Re: Logan Airport Capital Projects

Wasn't there also discussion of restricting curb access at the terminals, and providing a centralized point for car/taxi/Uber to APM transfers to gain terminal access?

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

I am a taxpayer. I live on a transit line and not right by any major roads. I help pay for the transit lines. I should have the right to use the transit lines without an extra penalty (like T...

Re: P&G close to deal for Fort Point land next to GE headquarters

I am so amused that Boston Globe, NIMBY speak is creeping into AB. (Not saying you mean it this way, but it is now Boston-norm vocabulary).

I am referring to calling anything in the Seaport/Fort...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

The Blue Line could have embraced third rail all the way when it was converted to heavy rail. But I suspect that catenary was kept in the above ground section (at extra cost for rolling stock -- so...

Re: State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Between the Hub on Causeway arcade and this plaza, the whole alignment really does scream as planning for a pedestrian mall Canal Street.

Re: The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

My understanding is that assessment of commercial properties in Boston, particularly parking garages, is a bit of a obtuse process. It is more based on the income potential of the garage than the...
