Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

Phase 1 was approved (https://www.pressherald.com/2018/09/18/westbrook-oks-first-phase-of-big-development-near-portland-line/). The PB meeting video is here...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

I wasn't saying that the Holiday Inn would fall into the same historical category as the others I mentioned, I was just pointing out that they were a very marked contrast in height and materials to...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Honestly, the whole "looks like it belongs in Florida" thing has never made sense to me (and this isn't an attack on you, it's my personal taste). I see nothing wrong with having a big white hotel...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Personally, I've always liked the bright white. I'm not a big fan of earth tones in general TBH.

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

I think they're emphasizing medical offices for those. But as cneal said, over on that side of the quarry they'll be on Portland's side of the line. I checked, and that land is B4 Commercial...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I still think of that arcade as the world's fanciest alley.

Is there something specifically wrong with Rapid7, or do you just not like the perpendicular office signage in general?

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

This is admittedly a broad generalization, but as one of the earliest members of Generation X, I've observed that in many cases, you reach a point in your life where you're satisfied / comfortable...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

The Planning Board workshop video from 8/21 is here (https://westbrooktv.viebit.com/player.php?hash=VHVjF3fxf28m); the Rock Row portion starts around 1h19. Here's a screengrab showing the Phase 1...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I love that the west podium building is such an homage to the old barn.

Re: Jetport

As a Portlander, I'll take that risk and fly out of PWM if the price difference is reasonable, as a key point to me is not having that 2-hour ride home (from ether MHT, which I've never flown out of,...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

There's a good photo here (http://www.thesportsroadtrip.com/atlantathrashers.html) (it's someone's blog so I'm not embedding).

And if the plan still includes tiling the entrance arcade to outline...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

At the workshop, the Planning Board chair took great pains to have the city planner say that, if the changes are within and meet the intent of the ordinance, then the developer should be able to...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

I went to the meeting tonight, and here are my takeaways:

* The building shown down next to the water in the quarry won't exist; the presenter said that the architect got carried away with that...

Re: Thompson's Point, Portland

The hotel (exactly as shown in the site plan posted here on 11/11, just south of and attached to Brick South) goes before the Planning Board tonight. It's called the "Hotel Portland" right now with,...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

A shot (May 5) of the AC Hotel near Ocean Gateway. If the location inspired the architects to use stainless steel shingles as an homage to fish scales, I think they pulled it off....

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

I don't have the link handy, but the developers will be at the Westbrook Planning Board on July 17 for what is being billed as an "informational workshop" but not yet a formal submission.

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

I like the name much better than "43 North," though; it would be easy enough to confuse that with someone's garage that sits between 39 and 45 North St. Really, if I were going to pay that kind of...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

It very well may, particularly with the 8000 seat outdoor concert venue they're listing on the website. I have to imagine that that will open their traffic movement permit back up as well.

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Are you thinking of the Portland Company? Because this isn't that site. This is the current Hamilton Marine building and parking lot that adjoins the Portland Company.

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

This development has a new name and a website (only one additional render from those above) Rock Row (http://www.rockrow.com). Best viewed in Chrome; some of the effects don't work in Firefox.

I hate to harp on this (and we're not even in the right thread for the conversation :) ), but I don't believe you're correct. My understanding is that the 100 Fore St. site, where Hamilton Marine is...

Re: Portland Bayside

Nitpick: the VA is in 144 Fore Street; 100 Fore Street is the Hamilton Marine building. The VA sits between Hamilton Marine and the new WEX location.

But this new planning site is pretty cool!
