Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

Are you trying out a new angle? I don't recall you saying anything this radical before.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Yeah, I'd say that the crazy transit pitch for Blue past Kenmore is getting it to Watertown Square. Even that is more cheaply accomplished by bring Green down from Porter.

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Right. Put a boulevard and/or park space along the bulk of the Turnpike corridor through Chinatown/South End/Back Bay. Put development on the periphery (by getting rid of most of Marginal Road and...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

I don't believe he was proposing to skip Kenmore in favor of a river-routing, but rather swinging back up towards the Charles after Kenmore as you describe. The "choose-your-own-adventure" is the...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

This is the trouble with "Blue past Kenmore". The *easiest* destination (though not as easy as it looks) is taking over the D to Riverside, but it's not a good candidate because it screws up the...

Re: Back Bay parking lot sells for 40 million

This is right near my husband's gallery. The sale was quite the to-do among the various associations of business and property owners on Newbury.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

If the question is "should we inform pols and officials of our well thought out and drawn out policy ideas, or should we hope that it's figured out absent the community's input?" I think the answer...

Re: Open Thread

DM Ed. He's the only one who can do it. I'd been wanting to change mine for years but couldn't get in touch with Briv.

Can we just agree to stop building new golf courses. FFS.

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

I can understand it but I sure don't sympathize. Shoulda done their research. It's always silly to me when "first adopters" (especially wealthy ones) complain when the product/experience has flaws....

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

I mean just pay the man to come in and record a few thousand words and phrases. Then he can be the computer voice. Hell they can even record his phonetics and made a computer voice with a facsimile...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Why isn't Oglesby on retainer? Who cares if he's retired pay the man to do voice work once a year or so. Dumbest branding decision was to begin phasing out his voice.

Good point. D'oh!

I also agree with your point about accessibility. Important feedback more websites should heed.

Re: archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

I'd reiterate mod support for Data, Equilibria, Beton, Beeline, and the existing Mods (Statler and Van - anyone else?).

I'm not seeing the ad that people are talking about. Maybe I missed it.

Re: Assembly Row (Assembly Sq Redevelopment) | Assembly Square | Somerville

I'm guessing that in 10 years Assembly will have MUCH more housing. Look for the Assembly Square shopping center lots to get redeveloped after Assembly Row's buildout is completed. All those parking...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

I might be wrong, but I think the suggestion was to have BRT on Hyde Park Ave funnel ridership on that corridor to RER-type service at Fairmount or to the Orange Line at Forest Hills. Not to put RER...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

Mishawum should be outright deleted. It can't be full-high'd and it gets ZERO ridership. Montvale Ave should get a stop as a replacement. It would have decent bus catchment.

Re: Fantasy T maps

Yeah, except that Volpe is gonna get blown up and redeveloped way faster than the state could imagine planning a Blue Line river crossing and alignment to the north or west

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

If/When GLX-Harvard is ever designed and built, it probably won't have a cross-platform transfer with the Worcester Line. It will be a fare transfer with a stroll of 300'-600'. I don't think we can...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

I don't. They're allowing housing development, which is good. But their master plan (such that it exists) for Cambridge Highlands is a disaster for infrastructure connections...

Re: Simmons University Living and Learning Center | 300 Fenway | Longwood

Probably some impact, but dorms aren't exactly cheaper for the students. Many students could get better rates in the private market.
