Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Don't know about that - not in NYC at least. 4/5/6 for instance on maps are generally the same color and later branch out in the Bronx. We have that with the letters on the Green Line and the A/B on...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Why would you be? Project has been reasonable on time/budget this entire time and is still opening roughly on time.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Yup, that is eventually where we are going. However, even with everything fully automated, streets still have a finite capacity which is less than rail (especially using the 1-4 seater pod concepts),...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I have always wondered: is there a good/engineering reason that when it was built, the tunnel had to surface at D Street instead of extending it ~500' so it would be completely grade separated? Would...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

So I have been thinking about this a little bit, but going over maps/aerials I guess I don't really see a good way/existing ROW to go into Everett? Would it be maybe the Community trail? Even that...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

It also seems like it gets a good swath withing 1/2 a mile radius around it for the north/south people, which is generally the radius I use for rapid transit.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I disagree somewhat - I think it gives great access to the Blue Line, but I am not sold it will be great access to South Station/Seaport vs just using the Blue Line now from Eastie. Being a pessimist...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Let us also remember the CNG buses if we are talking about explosive. Yet, I don't recall anyone of them going up. Li-ion batteries are like anything else - if there were manufacturing...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Exactly - and I couldn't see these running on NiCad - has to be lithium ion which is a bit more temperamental. The tesla pack (85kw), I think, it is about 20k to replace, and a bus would need a much...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Now that would be pretty cool. I would only be considered on the battery's themselves - they can be very costly to replace should they die. If they last as long as the lifespan of the bus, though,...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Ah, I was thinking more along the lines that the supporting poles/etc could be shared (with the CR side "empty") in some fashion. Probably wouldn't work now that I think about it given height...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Also wanted to chime in: read a bit about this, and not sure if it has been discussed, but as far as I can tell it looks like the dual mode buses will be running on diesel for this? Would it really...
