Re: Possible Boston soccer stadium | Discussion

The stadium situation in Philly is awful. It's completely the opposite of what ballparks and basketball/hockey arenas should be today, which is integrated into the city

Re: Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Uh, yeah. I'm aware of that (despite being a pseudo-intellectual). I'm also aware that density as a metric can be greatly impacted by the presence of significant infrastructure like airports,...

Re: Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Say what? Cambridge is the 26th densest city in America, and denser than Boston itself. I recently took a friend from Chicago on a tour through Cambridge and Somerville and they couldn't believe how...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Not to mention the fact that Dorchester Brewing Company already exists a couple hundred yards from South Bay.

To get people to pump some quarters into a slot machine while they wait.

Re: One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

I have no expertise or opinion as to how this will change the traffic situation. But it seems to me that this plaza will have a hugely positive effect on the pedestrian experience, and will truly...

Re: The New Retail Thread

Boston is now probably the best beer city on the East Coast (it's a toss up with Asheville and Portland). And that's because, over the past 5-10 years, breweries have exploded all over the outer...

Re: The New Retail Thread

They're not even trying to make Faneuil Hall attractive to locals. They're deliberately going in the complete opposite direction.

Looks like a good spot for a Green Line branch, to me!

Re: Allston-Brighton Developments

Yeah, this is great. For as dense as it already is (the Comm Ave corridor has the same density as Manhattan) Allston still has loads of untapped potential. It's already full of life and it's got...

Re: Roslindale Developments

I'm sure you're right to an extent--there's always some pushback. But business owners didn't seem to object to the plan to pedestrianize Poplar Street, which will eliminate 10-15 parking spots in the...

Re: Roslindale Developments

As a Rozzie resident myself, I'm not sure it will take a lot of heat, actually. Roslindale in general and the Square in particular are now filled with people who want a dense, walkable, and lively...

Re: How does Boston's urbanism compare?

While I'm not going to say that Boston has any place that compares to the East Village, I would argue that Central Square, Harvard Square, Davis, and, increasingly, Union Square are all high energy...

Re: The Residences at Forest Hills | 3694 Washington Street | Jamaica Plain

Truth be told, I hope that low-rise commercial strip never gets touched. Not because I'm in love with how it looks, but because if there ever was any development, we'd go from the 13 existing...

Re: Jamaica Plain Infill

Going to have to wholeheartedly agree with FK4, though I would actually stretch his boundary across Centre to the gorgeous little English village you find on Eliot Street. This little pocket of JP is...

Re: South Boston Infill and Small Projects

Hadn't seen this rendering before and I love it. The Southie beaches are underutilized gems, and if we could combine this with the development of Andrew Square and Dot Ave, and some commercial...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Why do you keep referring to a lawsuit in which Wynn was forced to pay millions to the complainants as "accusations"?

Re: Roslindale Developments

This will be great, but what I really want to see is the MBTA parking lot on the other side of Belgrade sold and turned into a 3-4 story residential building with ground-floor retail. There's more...

Re: Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

That was I was most excited about, too, but I'm a little worried about what I'm seeing. For starters, the restaurant doesn't appear to have any entrance to Quaker Lane - it's elevated a half a floor...

Re: The New Retail Thread

With the opening of Square Root right in the heart of the square, Green T was likely a goner, anyway. That lot isn't very big so I'm not sure whether it really could be redeveloped.

Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

Barely notice the pike exists? From here???

That's a very pretty rendering. In reality, those tables will never be occupied, because sitting next to an eight-lane highway blows.

Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

I'm a little befuddled by the over-the-top reaction here as well. Y'all have stood on a highway overpass before, right? It doesn't matter how many trees or granite benches they put in, this is going...

Re: Tremont Crossing | Roxbury

This is such an important project. Bit by bit, the city is being stitched back together. If we can keep this going down through the RCC parking lots we'll really be onto something here.

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike PARCEL 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

But we do have the population density of Manhattan in this particular spot. Take a look at the bottom right map here:
