Re: Chelsea Creek Rails-to-Tollway

While I'm happy to be corrected, I have seen no expectations that the oil tanks are going anywhere, they're in every render. I'm rather skeptical that Irving Oil has any intentions of ever giving up...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

I'm certainly not qualified to assess a track layout in depth. Some of the points I see that I'm skeptical of:

- Hudson Yards was so expensive for a number of obvious reasons. They were building...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Pollack followed up with a "we'll figure out how to make it legal" type of comment, though.

My impression from watching prior meetings is that she's usually the one pumping the brakes on "wild...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Probably intentional so passengers don't try to board the test train, no?

Re: archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

vB 3.7.3 was released 8/26/08, is long out of support, and has huge security vulnerabilities.

The software has to be upgraded at least to a modern version of vB unless you want it to be full of...

So long as it's replaced by a rule that you aren't allowed to quote entire posts full of pictures.

Re: Long Island Bridge

The city has already allocated the money for it, it is funded.

The last bridge lasted >60 years, which seems reasonable.

Mostly echoing others:

- I'm supportive of the names raised for moderator suggestions, and in general would like to see them pulled from the active long-term members of the site (which I don't...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

BU East, Central, Allston St and Packard's Corner are all high ridership stops on the system.

Packard's Corner also functions as both short turn location and bus transfer point with 57 riders....

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I'm confused about what makes this a good article. I don't see any substance here.

They're rambling along about their opinions of Amtrak and not in any way explaining how "Amtrak is blocking MBTA...

Re: Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I know HenryAlan mentioned this already, but how wide is the PDW path coming up to the River Street Bridge where there's a railing on both sides?

That is something I'd argue is unsafe to ride on...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

The latter is already how the T's fare system works if you do it right, the issue at present is the confusing fare media/explanations means a lot of people don't get to take advantage of those...

Re: Housing a Changing City: Boston 2030

Yeah, I'm currently out in the Upper Valley area of VT/NH, and the housing crunch is consistently cited as the #1 problem with getting people to move to the area or stay. Rents may not be Boston...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Name some?

I certainly haven't seen any, and I've been to most of Europe. It's virtually impossible to function very independently as a disabled person in most countries that I've seen there.

Re: Framingham, MA

If built as shown in the picture, I imagine it'd be a big safety hazard.

Sloped metal roof, 6 story building. Sounds like sheets of snow/ice are going to slide right off and develop some nice...

Re: Biking in Boston

I'd like to see exact drawings of the implementation, but as currently described, I've looked it over a few times, and I don't see how this isn't going to cripple a bunch of congested intersections...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

I will point out that Amtrak does heavy ridership out of Back Bay and I think you'd have a big fight on your hands trying to convince them to let trips miss it.

It does 40% of the ridership that...

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

The Pike only has 3 thru lanes in the area now, the 4th lane is not continuous through the Allston tolls. So I'm not very clear from this (and I'm not sure the author is either) on if there's even a...

Seems odd to do this just for Back Bay and not implement it for the other Logan Express routes as well.

Here is the link to the recording and the slide decks. Somewhere in there is probably your answer.

Re: Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

That's pretty much what someone who's claiming to be a witness on Reddit says happened:
