Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

"Your Tax Dollars at Work" is a more comforting message when the agency in question has its act together.

I do agree that London's system does a much better job of informing the riders of whats...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

In all fairness, thats because you don't have the authority to enforce it. The government does, they just don't bother to.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

I donít think the suggestion was to make Weymouth a third branch, but to extend the Braintree branch to South Weymouth station.

Re: Wonderland

Seaport doesnít have the blue line, Wonderland does. Yes, Seaport beats Wonderland out in other regards, but that is huge, until hey make the Silver Line more reliable.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

This us really just a historical question: have there ever been proposals to build a bridge or tunnel to Marthaís Vineyard?

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Agreed so much on Dukakis.

Maybe Transmit Matters should do their own town halls and have you as one of the speakers - or at least draft up some PPT slides.

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail

If the most highly educated people can be so taken advantage of in such a fashion, I'd say its an indictment of the educational system. Or, they're not being taken advantage of.

Re: Sources for Planned Cities with separated traffic

I remember reading about that. Did anyone ever explore the multilevel approach? Like here:

Iím going to be shocked if Walt was the only guy who even considered it.

Sources for Planned Cities with separated traffic

Iím sure youíre all familiar with the original plan for EPCOT, a planned city. Iíve always liked how auto traffic was totally separated from pedestrian traffic, and Iím curious if anyone can point me...

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail

Couldnít those with property along Red or Blue do the same? Suffolk Downs redevelopment certainly would benefit from Red-Blue.

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Iím no fan of unions myself, but when I went to an NSRL meeting, it was mostly union people eager for new work. And Dukakis trying to turn it into a political rally.

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Excellent info, thanks! Follow up if you donít mind, since I definitely phrased my question not exactly as I meant to (but I still got some good info): What other projects would have higher priority...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

Gonna ask this one from the opposite direction we usually approach crazy pitches:

What steps would be necessary before it made sense to run the commuter rail/regional rail from Boston to...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Hey F-Line, I know this is beating a dead horse, but I figure you can provide the answer quickest (and my apologies if you did so recently).

Could a CR station fit on the bridge itself, in theory?

Re: Quincy Center Redevelopment

Anyone know what the construction project on Adams, just west of the John Adams house, is? Looks pretty big, but is right next to a bunch of nice spacious lots.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Possibly. I was also thinking, more for the malls actually failing: I wonder if they would be good spots for breweries. Stick a brewery with a nice bar area in one of them, you could get some decent...

Re: The New Retail Thread

This is a bit tangental to the topic, but has anyone else noticed how much more empty South Shore Plaza is nowadays than just a couple years ago?

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

A valid point, but it looks like Wynn was able to fill most of the positions, according to that article. I gotta think they got most of the remaining 1000 after the article was written. Hell, if...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

I sure hope so. I went there with my wife and in-laws, and my father-in-law absolutely loves Vegas casinos. I was furious, but I had to be the calm one. The best we got was a 30 minute wait time at...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

To anyone with more understanding of restaurants than I do: Whats the logic behind the casinoís restaurants all having absurd wait times of 60-90 minutes when theyíre 1/2 to 2/3 full?
