Re: North-South Rail Link

I stand corrected- the diagram for the central artery looks like 3 but realizing now that’s for the 4 track option, not 2. Thanks-

Re: North-South Rail Link

Even the lowest cost NSRL option includes central station. Would love to see how much it would cost without this, and without lumping in new car procurements, etc.

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

To your first point - I don't think the finishes will help much, since the massing is both top heavy and girthy at the same time. Sometimes that overshadows everything else. 10 Farnsworth is...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I don't understand the diagonals on the roof line, and the extended roof on the top in general. It makes the massing top heavy for no good reason

Re: Longfellow Place (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

I'd love to see 3 or 4 new "tenements" lined up to the left of the last one/museum. Each of the new buildings would have the same height, # stories, floor lines, and proportion of the original. But...

Re: Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

A symptom of the 5+1 construction fetish. Cheap, easy, and profitable for developers. Fine, even preferable, in outlying commuter rail zone 3 TOD areas, but problematic in dense areas when we have a...

Re: One Post Office Square Makeover and Expansion

Absolutely. Or a crown. Something other than a flat roof.

I look forward to seeing more renderings of this!

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

definitely. ferries depend on the geography more than anything else. Hingham and Hull are perfect since the ferry saves a bunch of time during rush hour as the water-distance is much shorter (and...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Sure. I don't disagree that the whole cost structure of the commuter rail is bananas and that the CR as a product can be awful (no subway or bus integration for fares, no coordination with timetables...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

There is no reason on earth why the price to ride a standing room only, packed to the gills 6 pack express train heading into south station for 8:30 on a Tuesday should cost as much as a train...

Re: Crazy Transit Pitches

This analysis is pretty good, and I 100% agree that the answer lies in the bus system and a reallocation/enhancement of existing lines to better serve the population.

I propose the following...

Re: The Boston Garden (TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I've got no problem with the buildings being '500 each (and they look to be about that), but given the very many developable plots around here I wish this established a more tall/thin vernacular...

Re: 3200 Washington St. | Egleston Sq. | Jamaica Plain

the idea of a developer rehabbing a "problem property" is an absolutely phenomenal idea and should really be a key tenet for any development in a "transitional" area

it's amazing how one or two...

Re: Hancock Tower III | 380 Stuart Street | Back Bay

To echo what everyone else is saying this proposal is far too small and "Boston" for the parcel and should be 3x as tall. There is precedent for height here and there is no lacking for demand for...

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Not to derail this thread - but I never understood my generation's fascination with food trucks. What makes them so popular? I don't get it. Why is it a "scene" nowadays?

Re: Waltham Developments

sad that there's a great urban downtown just a mile away but "no one can get there from here"

just imagine if 1/4th that office space were appropriately developed downtown. it would be kendall 2.0.

Re: MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

it's a matter of degree. what's being reported of course will never mention the debt service costs saddling the T - probably the single, easiest thing that they could fix that would yield the best...
