Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

Personally it's a sacrifice I'd be willing for the city to make to get what's planned for the rest of the parcel. While I loathe the traditional strip mall parking-in-front look, as long as there are...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Yeah, I like the updates to 178 Kennebec Street as well. I think that building and the Glickman Library diagonally across the highway will compliment each other nicely with that color scheme.

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

It'll be interesting to see what the Planning Board thinks about this, because I believe their preference was for the developers to build against the road and have parking behind that. The Gateway...

Re: The Ridge (former Dirigo Plaza), Westbrook, ME

Site works seems to have ground to a halt there lately. I haven't seen much activity other than the Hampton Inn going up (which isn't part of the development).

I wonder if this has to go back...

Re: Portland Bayside

Well, hopefully the lawsuit being settled frees the land up to be sold and developed by someone else. I'm tired of waiting for Federated to do something. I can't blame them for everything the city...

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

People in this area have a clinical fear of change. The older they get, the worse that fear. Any change, even if it is an improvement, is seen as bad.

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Vets First is not going to be big enough to fill a new downtown tower. Sure, they bought Henry Schein's Animal Health division, but that division is based in Ohio and those employees are staying...

I'd love to see them go downtown, but I have a sneaking suspicion they'll end up here:

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

No, our local kill-joy NIMBY organization Keep Portland Livable thinks that buildings over 6 stories eat people, so we can't have nice things now.

Re: Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

This is purely the rumor mill, so who knows if it's true or not - but I heard a rumor not too long ago that Unum put their original building on outer Congress Street (the one they call HO1) up for...
