Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Who cares? Certainly not all the developers who've been putting up tower after tower in Boston's central core since, oh, 2012 or so. Obviously it's profitable for them or they wouldn't be doing it....

Re: Cooper Street Apartments | 20 Cooper St. | Downtown Waltham

Just drove by the development site today--the resurrected project is essentially complete, as best I can judge. Truly, what a futile & stupid gesture that arson was.

[to not even speak of its...

Re: Worcester Improvements

Seriously. Look at the MBTA's Worcester timetable:

https://www.mbta.com/schedules/CR-Worcester/timetable

Although it looks like decent-enough rush-hour frequency, it's still 85 minutes from...

Re: Reasonable Transit Pitches

I was thinking about this a few days ago. I count five segments from Tufts NEMC O Line stop to North Station. 1.25 miles almost exactly. So each segment averages nearly exactly 1,200 ft. With O Line...

Re: Fenway Theater | 12 Lansdowne St | Fenway

The only *rational* explanation I can come up with is that Sox ownership is secretly afflicted by intense self-loathing/identity neuroses.

Therefore, they decided to adopt a song--to the point it...

Re: Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street |

So, it came to the attention of the Boston Preservation Alliance that this is a really craptastic proposal... gnashing of teeth & rending of garments ensued.

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

Ah, I see--good clarification.

I don't doubt this is a significant transportation issue in its own right; however, when you're talking about Washington St. overall from Stuart/Kneeland north to...

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

1.) Said luxury building next door, 47 LaGrange, was actually approved three months ago, proof:

Re: What's everyone drinking...?

On the amber liquids front: The Star Market across from Mt. Auburn Cemetery [Watertown/Cambridge/Belmont line] has a "Build Your Own 6-Pack" case with 40 or 50 different varieties, $10.99. I've been...

Re: McMansion Hell

The High Medieval suit-of-armor in image 45 is an inspired touch. On loan from the great Higgins Armory (http://www.johnwhigginsarmoryllc.com/) presumably?

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop

P.S. Per the BBJ story, Druker was saying the property was in the black in 2013.

Per City of Boston Assessing (http://app01.cityofboston.gov/ParcelViewer/?pid=0501168000), for 330-360 Boylston (4...

All signs point to... yes!

"Are you concerned about the fate of the Boylston Street project?

I’m not. I would rather be under construction, but the...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

It won't--at the very least, it won't insofar as, there will not be a change to a different architect. MP only uses Handel:

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Yes. After all the excavators "munched" the old garage into wreckage, this machinery grinds the material--along with the underlying layers of sediment--into a high-enough quality slurry that then...

Re: Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

This. There's going to be 280 hotel rooms encircling Quaker Lane in a few years--it should really become a special urban place, a true downtown sanctuary tucked-away from the hustle/commotion... yet...

Re: Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

Is there a greater tragedy here in that none of these pieces will be in dialogue with the majestic humanity of the Robert Gould Shaw 54th Regiment Memorial just up the steps?

(Or am I missing...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I think you need to be more specific with your nomenclature.

"Downtown Crossing" was absolutely a top-down imposition/marketing innovation by the Mayor White Administration ca. 1978-79, part of...

Re: Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downto

I'd revise to say "not quite up to Burnham Bldg. & 1 Milk St. level"

Although 1 Milk St. obviously lacks the soaring cathedral-like majesty of the Burnham, from a standpoint of "restoring the...

Re: The New Retail Thread

I think you must have meant Hillstone (https://www.bostonmagazine.com/restaurants/2016/10/14/hillstone-restaurant-faneuil-hall-closed/)? (Which, based on where its location was, makes perfect sense.)

Re: The New Retail Thread

Some thoughts about this failure:

1a.) The landlord, Ames Hotel, has had a lackluster career--at best--since inception. Developed at 2007 costs and opened in the 2009 market. Hilton's takeover a...
