Re: General Boston Discussion.

Vornardo kept a hole in the ground on purpose to try to extort the city for money to finally build. Their CEO literally got drunk and bragged about this tactic during a talk he gave that they would...

Re: Scape Student Housing | 1252-1268 Boylston Street | Fenway

I have been meaning to try to snag the 4x4 Billiards sign for awhile now.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

That isn't really new news - last update on that page was August 13th. Did see a picture lately, though, of full 6 car test trains on the express track which is cool:

Re: South Station Tower

If only it could get all approved and then maybe a bit of a redesign to not look so bad. Then again, I had forgotten this was going to be 683' - anyone know if that is full height or last occupied...

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

One thing I could guess is that back then they might have figured that if they need more land they could always keep filling it in (which obviously is never going to happen nowadays).

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Have to agree - even putting some decent trees in the middle median would be nice.

Re: Worcester Improvements

Yes. Also - it even happened in Markets (including here) that have no real links to the GM Street Car conspiracy as far as I have ever researched about it - the lines closed here seemed to be...

Re: Boston and surrounding areas housing crisis

No traffic google has it at 16-20 minutes, with full on rush hour estimates top out at 45 minutes. I think your older teacher might have been using a bit of hyperbole.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Just for the record, there are 4 wine/liquor stores within half a mile of Central Square - don't really see the issue here, even if I probably won't actually use any number of dispensaries that go up.

Re: The New Retail Thread

Ah, hadn't realized they brought back the arcades after taking them all out back in the day. I would argue though that 'barcade' is specific concept to retro 80s/90s/00s (and maybe some newer ones)...

Re: MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

All of the infill and large scale developments in Dorchester and throughout the other neighborhoods, too.

Re: MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

ugh, I thought this was already approved and a done deal. Never trust in air rights, I guess.

Re: The New Retail Thread

A Bar Filled With Arcade Games Debuts Downtown (https://boston.eater.com/2018/10/11/17958882/versus-arcade-bar-gallery)

First "barcade" in Boston - seems a bit lame on the game list, but, will...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

They will have better acceleration/breaking, though, so at least they will have that going for them.

Re: Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

I wish the Pierce ended up having the verticality of this building - it might be actually not that tall, but, its proportions just make it work so well in my opinion. I will probably get flack for...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Why would you announce the entire map on train cars? Also, as far as I know, all lines currently already announce each stop.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Crazier idea: start looking into and rolling out LCD/screens that can be easily updated whenever anything changes in real time.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I guess - I just really don't consider that in the same realms as city wide mass transit/subway systems.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Yeah I remember that, too. Kind of hope they are still doing it as it would be nice to get visible progress sooner rather than later (and kind of safe guards at least against a hole in the ground for...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Seems to fly in the face of the purpose of public transit, and I can't think of any system world wide that covers itself on fares alone with no subsidies. Also, that would very much hurt the lower...

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Ah, fantastic. I kind of assumed it must have, but I must have missed the official announcement. Guessing we probably have a long way to go to see it going vertical though.

Re: 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Here is a question - has this actually been officially approved? I know the garage demo was green lit, but what was the new construction actually ready to go?
