Re: The New Retail Thread

I still can't find the story I was looking for about the fight or shooting via Google. (Maybe it was BEFORE Google?) Anyway, it became a Rock Bottom Brewery in 2000 and it closed in 2009. ...

Re: The New Retail Thread

What's old is NEW again. At the location of the current Dave & Busters behind the South Shore Plaza, there used to be a microbrewery. Brew Moon Microbrewery. I seem to remember there was some...

Re: T construction news

Yes, it USED to be a Starbucks before the diner. (.....when I lived in Newton prior to moving to Scituate in 2006.) I think Cafe Nero is in the Wellesley Hills Commuter Rail Station, but I haven't...

Re: T construction news

Newton Center used to have a Starbucks. Other than South Station, is there another T Station with a Starbucks instead of Dunkin?

Re: Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Just got back from a weekend in New York City where we walked the High Line with thousands of other gay tourists! I've never seen so much rainbow clothing in my life! Anyway, I was very impressed...

Re: Commuter Rail Reconfiguration

I'm not sure where to put this, but I've been following Melbourne's rail tunnel and I received this link. They are looking at a suburban "circle line" or Boston's version of the Urban Ring.

Re: Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Also, I hope Pier 4 turns out similar to Circular Quay in Sydney. It's very uninspiring architecture for the condos above, but the street level is lined with restaurants and outdoor tables. You...

Re: Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

YES! I have many photos of friends doing all kinds of crazy pictures with the water shooting out at various points on their body. It could be a fun destination point along the Harbor Walk. I agree...

Re: Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

We are heading down to New York City this weekend to honor the 50-year anniversary of Stonewall, AND check out Hudson Yards and the latest High Line additions. (I'll try to get some pictures.)

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

I agree 100 percent! We must invest in transit. Using my example above about needing to travel from Scituate to Lawrence in the morning, it was STILL less time to drive in massive traffic vs. the...

Suburban Toronto has hundreds of these mid-rise apartment/condo towers that seem to look much better than what we do here in the States:

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

Also for what it's worth, there are several transit oriented, mixed-use developments in Weymouth, Cohasset, and Scituate that I've been meaning to document someday with a photo essay. Hopefully,...

Re: Regional Rail (including North-South Rail Link)

You're right, but one of the reasons we looked at Scituate back in 2006 was the Greenbush line. I don't think we would have chosen the area if it didn't have rail service to Boston. (So, I guess...

Re: Scape Student Housing | 1252-1268 Boylston Street | Fenway

No wonder we all moved to the burbs! The roof deck at Quest in the summer was excellent. (Same roof deck as Baseball Tavern recently.)

I always thought the current iteration of Machine/Ramrod...

Re: Pier 4 Commercial-Condo Tower | Seaport

I stand by my statement! So often I see such cool renderings at first and then the finished project is just so completely hideous. I'm so jaded after seeing 30 years of this in Boston. Gosh,...

Seaport-South Boston-Bayside Streetcar System

I posted this in the Bayside thread too.

What about a "starter" streetcar line that starts at South Station and runs on Summer Street all the way to L Street. It continues on L Street to William...

Re: Bayside Expo Center Redevelopment | Columbia Point | Dorchester

With this development anchoring the southern end and the Seaport district on the north plus all of the South Boston peninsula, I keep thinking a local Streetcar system like Portland, Seattle, or...

I was just there last week! (See my screen name.)

I wonder if Cafe Nero had a big impact on Barrington. Cafe Nero was hopping busy around 2pm on a Wednesday. They are just a few doors away. ...

Re: The New Retail Thread

That's sad news. Are there going to be any gay bars left in Greater Boston? I know we don't "need" them anymore, but it's nice to raise a glass with your own people once in awhile. I guess there...

Re: Liberty Tree Plaza

For what it's worth, I don't think Boston does a very good job of educating the tourists and locals about ALL aspects of Boston's incredible history. (I guess that was the failed Boston City...
