Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I was looking at the MBTA's contracts section and noticed "reopen the Temple Place stairs on Tremont Street" as part of the upcoming Park St improvements project. I assume they'll be making these...

Re: East Cambridge / Infill and Small Projects

Hm "Kendall East"...

4 blocks from Lechmere (or 6 from new Lechmere).

12 blocks from Kendall Square.

ok.

Also, 136 units but 142 parking spaces. Very surprising.

Re: Biking in Boston

I'll add that they removed the Harborwalk underpass for the N Washington Bridge project, so there is no longer a connection there. I assume they will make some other accommodation? There is no...

Re: Green Line Type 10 Procurement

The sliding window in the cab looks horrible. Why doesn't it have a black frame to match?

Re: Fenway Area Redevelopment

But they're also being replaced by new ones, such as dbar and Peggy O'Neils/Blend elsewhere in the city.

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

Not a fan of the cyan and yellow dots and the red arrow.

It does look like the shrunk them down horizontally, but imo vertically was the issue. The housing doesn't need to be 3x the size of the...

Re: Biking in Boston

The left was allowed when Ames St was one way here, but it no longer aligns properly to allow it.

Re: General Infrastructure

In Somerville the snow on the roads had already melted so much by 9am that I could bike to work. Not even slush, just wet pavement.

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

The plan was for a protected bike lane on the left and a red dedicated bus lane on the right that would extend to Ave de Lafayette.

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

I want to say 3-4 years ago they presented the plans, and the neighborhood association was vehemently against it. They refused to give up their legal (660) and illegal (Kensington) pick up/drop off...

Re: Residential Tower | 41 Lagrange Street | Chinatown

I'm glad this was approved before the luxury building next door. I wouldn't have wanted the new residents to then turn and oppose this project next door.

We saw that happen at the Kensington where...

Re: MGH Expansion | 275 Cambridge Street | West End

"for Children and Adults" - why is that necessary in the name?

Re: Crossroads at Kenmore | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square

Their proposed square is in the middle of the intersection surrounded by roads with the exception of their building on one side. Wouldn't it be more accessible if it where the "bend Beacon"...

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

In what's news to me, the Somerville Bike Committee's newsletter shows that bus lanes are coming to Broadway in Somerville through Winter Hill and there's a community meeting about it on Monday the...

Re: Crossroads at Kenmore | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square

I like it, but they still left that "left turn of death" for cyclists from Comm Ave onto Brookline Ave. With cycle tracks everywhere, it's weird that they still expect people on bikes to cut over 3...

Re: New Red and Orange Line Cars

When they were showing the mockup at City Hall they explained that those screens needed housings that large "because". They didn't have an explanation when I pointed out that buses didn't seem to...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

What does Muni do to maintain theirs? Aside from a different climate, wouldn't they be experiencing the same issues?

Re: 60 Kilmarnock St | Fenway

Actually, compared to the September presentation, it looks like the sole retail spot was reduced by 2/3.

Re: Biking in Boston

The mixing zones along the SWC don't force pedestrians and cyclists to cross over each other's paths at every intersection. On the new Arborway, you have the bike lane along the roadway and then the...

Re: 40 Trinity Place | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Ok so I'm not the only one who has never heard of the brand. When it was first announced I was ready to complain about naming a hotel after a bag of Ruffles chips. Had to do some research to see what...

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I agree with jass. The locations being pointed out aren't because of faulty signals or old equipment, but because at one point in the past few decades, someone didn't look for a green line trolley...
