Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

It's a shame there isn't a way to get over the tracks from the Gateway Center, which has more spots than the Wellington surface lot, and if the crowds for casino and shopping switch over at around...

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

That might be the worst-written thing I've ever seen linked here, do they have kids from the Parlin covering the development beat?

Re: Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

Let's try to extend some charity to our fellow posters who are commenting in good faith. You don't really know who's on the other side of the screen, and I bet it's more diverse in many ways than you...

That'd do the trick.

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

I'm bearish on autonomous vehicles in cities--I'd never say never, but if it's a race between self-driving cars and Uber and Lyft being in the ground, the latter feels more likely.

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

The rising price of rideshares will do the work of pushing more people into the transit system anyway, so I'm all for helping them along with this surcharge.

It's fairly well-reported by now that...

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

Essex St in particular will never change without police enforcement, which means it never will because they abuse it too. Maybe those little flappy bollards might do the trick. But it's just too...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

My blocklist has grown by a member, you've had a laugh but a lot of us here try to take things somewhat seriously.

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

What kind of magic trains can you get for that kind of money? For 10 extra percent of my income I'd want a train on wheels that lives in my driveway and only goes to the places I want, when I want...

Re: Emerson College - Little Building Addition + Renovation | 80 Boylston St | Downto

Scanning/CNC is going to be a great tool in the kit of preservers/restorers, and sculptural milling and printing will become more prevalent but it's not that easy to model or document from a design...

Re: Columbus Ave Student Housing | 10 Burke St | Northeastern University

East Village was a dud but I always liked IV, different strokes.

Re: Encore Boston Harbor Casino | Everett

Reserving my opinion on casinos in general or this one in particular, but there is an MGM in National Harbor and it has more of a landscraper form but it does have actual entertainment venues like...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

Starting to get pretty difficult to project what those kinds of things might be without hard figures.

Weston CEOs who could move their companies to 128 vs a younger workforce with little desire...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

True, but what about the goal of moving the "where everyone has to live and work" needle in the other direction? A true high-functioning rail network would over time undo the Boston-or-nothing...

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

Many points made well here. My own experience as a motorist reflects a lot of what is being said, that the decision to take any route or mode is the result of a number of inputs. I know and care that...

Re: The Factory at 46 Wareham | South End

Well they have to start the new folks somewhere. What better place than *checks notes* uh, a prominent location in a major city with a strong masonry tradition?

Re: Congestion toll in Boston?

We're talking at cross purposes here but don't really have to be. It can be true that driving creates externalities that we haven't priced yet, AND, obviously, that drivers are not going to be...

Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

There are bars but not clubs per se, though they're the kind of bar that has a lot of dancing. You have Cask on one end which has a pretty large dance floor in the back, then the House of Blues at...

Re: Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Exciting. This should be a really solid project and I like seeing selection of an architect who can make things with depth and character. Although is it just me or do they spend the entire "Exterior...

Re: Uber Safety

Hey, maybe let's stay away from victim-blaming here. You can't maintain both that this is a pervasive social problem and that it would be solved by simply checking a license plate. The penalty for...

Re: Cambridge Developments

Love to see this! This is why I don't accept that we need to have grey paneling on everything going up these days. It doesn't take that much more effort to select some nice colors and distribute them...

Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

I'm into this idea, provided we don't repeat the mistakes of the greenway: we don't need continuous roads on both sides of the park, and we don't need the surface streets to directly track the...

Re: Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

Anyone else having a hard time imagining the green as depicted? It's very much a part of our vernacular to see patinated metal panels, but that's much bluer sort of aquamarine color. Is that what's...

Re: Boston Bombing Memorial | Boylston St | Back Bay

I should have been clear, I don't want a dumb bronze statue that doesn't force the viewer to think anything besides "duhhh all cops are heroes" or whatever. I'm appreciative of subtlety; this is...
