Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

The trees on top of the hotel look ridiculous IMO. Roof gardens are fine, but this one just sticks out like a sore thumb saying "I shouldn't be here"

Re: The Boston "what if" thread

GE phase 2 is ready to go and looking for a tenant.

Probably Kendall if anything though.

Re: Downtown Crossing

Anybody more versed in real estate and finance want to provide their opinion on WeWork rapidly taking over office space? I have two naive concerns.

1. The company itself seems to be going through...

Re: Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street |

At first glance in the last presentation, I understood the facade to be terra cotta. I didn't look too much into it then, but I'm very pleased it is actually a metal facade. With that in mind, this...

Re: State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

This changes my outlook on the whole development. I was worried the office and taller residential towers would be built (aka the real money-makers), and then the garage would be left standing, we'd...

Re: State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

So long as you have the money/its feasible to bury and build, and can get past the NIMBYS and neighbors losing their views, and ensure the wind from resulting from the close proximity of the two...

Just had a long day, and you got me laughing to myself like a fool in public. Thanks.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

They have both a crane on trucks on the right of way and a crane on Columbia Ave. Sounds like it is going to be a slow process picking it up..

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

Haven't looked into it in depth or watched the press conference(s), but I'm going to guess the location of the train is making it difficult to move it. Depending on how they position the crane, they...

Re: The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I never noticed the interface between the residential and base. What a mess. That is a good rendering, though.

Re: Longfellow Place (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

This crane lights up with white lights at night. Not as exciting as One Dalton's show, but a new lit up crane nonetheless.

Re: Office Tower | 125 Lincoln St | Leather District

Both are by Gensler. I guess they have really taken on the box slapped on a box or cut out of a box as their calling, but I like this a lot more in the context of this location compared to the Hub on...

Re: MBTA Bus & BRT

I hope the MBTA considers a partnership with private firms/Uber for The Ride. $45 per trip is steep.

Re: Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

Now it looks like One Dalton's cousin, at 1/3 of the height it should be (with those design proportions, not because WE NEED MOAR HEIGHT)

Should've just changed the street level a bit and built...

That was made in 2007. Obviously it would need some updates since then.

Re: Fantasy T maps

DB, are the different shades of green used to increase clarity or indicate a different type of service? (D2, E, F, G vs. B, C, D1)

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

I'd wager its because low bids win. Companies/consultants put the lower-skilled/lower-paid workers on the transit jobs, as compared to private sector work where there's more money to be made.

Re: Parcel I | Cambridge Crossing | East Cambridge

That's really dependent on how much the client is concerned about how their building looks and how much money they're willing to spend, I'd say. The architects are held back by other people's money.
