It is also now Cambridge's tallest building.

Re: Quincy Center Redevelopment

Makes me think of 784 Memorial Dr.
Not sure that's something to be emulated.

Re: Big Dig Tunnel--

Wouldn't photo cells (like we use in every building) be the smart solution here? Only on when needed, and dimmed as appropriate based on light levels.

Re: Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Not sure there's a problem.
People on this (and almost all forums) have a special skill for succeeding at being a dick whether they are trying to or not.

Comparing something new or proposed to...

Re: Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Are they moving out of 150 Second street?

Edit. Nevermind, I went and found it.

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Besides it being in Newark?
The path separation was a bit of a pain, and the platform I was on was exposed, with a chain link fence, etc. The station itself I guess wasn't as bad as I recall. Just...

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

I'm apparently on the other side.
A train station is a station for trains to enter and leave and pick up and drop off travelers.
If it does that, it works.
I used Penn Station for the first real...

Re: South Station Tower | South Station | Downtown

Light colored finishes, good lights, and electric trainsets.....

Take care of those, and your daily train experience will be 200% better than today.

While there is natural light today, it gets...

Re: MXD II | 325 Main St. | Kendall Square

I like the real access to the roof garden being added. Opens up a little light between it and the Marriott as well, as the overall footprint is smaller than the existing structure.
Would like it to...

Re: The archBoston Meetup Thread

I'm with the downtown option as well.
Selfishly, I propose a date after Easter. (when I can drink again....)
Red Hat is a fine option, if we can fit.

Re: Somerville Developments

Will they build the Coheed across the street?
Maybe a Rush and Yes and the whole place will be very "progressive".....

Re: Allston Yards (Stop and Shop) | 60 Everett St | Allston

So you don't have a narrow view, just a short sighted one?

It's not that now, so why design it for the future?

Re: Condo + Retail Project | 124-126 Salem Street | North End

At least I wasn't the only one recognizing those "balcony" treatments during the video, saying 'oh they're in front of that building.'

Terrible skills. But big boy in the white/no shirt can take a...

Re: Ollie | 217 Albany St | South End

While I don't disagree with much of it... just want to note.

If everything is the same height.... we complain about the plateau, and say variation is better.

If everything varies...... we think...

Re: P&G close to deal for Fort Point land next to GE headquarters

Can't build much of substance at the actual tunnel locale, so might as well make that the park space.

Re: General MBTA Discussion Thread

The amount of nurses I see on the CR and subway doesn't agree with "almost all". When I have no headphones, it's clear that most of them are heading to Longwood and not MGH.
Probably a bit much of...

Skanska Sells 121 Seaport in Boston for $455 Million

Re: State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Neat.
Small tidbit. My first MEP job was working in Shovel Shop Square in an old Ames building. Didn't realize they were the 4th oldest company until today.

Re: Parcel JK | Cambridge Crossing | Cambridge

I agree wholeheartedly.
Unfortunately that process is not as easy as any of us would wish.
We all have the ability to look at things with perfect hindsight.
This is why I take offense (only mild)...

Re: Parcel JK | Cambridge Crossing | Cambridge

Except it's not true here at all.
J/K was combined from two lots, but that had nothing to do with Philips. The larger building was designed as a lab building, and was being built as such before...
