Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Not along the Orange or Red Lines. It takes 10 mins to go from downtown Boston to Wellington in Medford assuming that nothing goes wrong.

And is the waterfront parking owned by Massport? When I searched it this is what came up, it...

I know it's beating a dead horse but come on MBTA make that happen. I can't think of an easier and cheaper improvement. That's a 15 min...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Yah 26 mins to get from Silver Line way to Airport Station in the afternoon is unacceptable, that's why the state desperately needs to give the Silver Line the state police ramp. I'm sure it would...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

With the whole safety thing, why not have the HOV lane merge earlier if that is a worry. The HOV lane is rarely used anyway since people don't know it's there when staring at their GPSes.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Also bring the 112 bus down the Silver Line bus ROW to airport station.

Though it might make sense to have some local Silver Line routes go to Wood Island instead of Airport Station. The MBTA...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

That would be a good SL6 route. Only issue is that the Airport T bus station isn't really built as a turn around spot as it dumps onto a one way. Though that could easily be fixed.

I also think...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I don't think you should charge 50 cent higher rapid transit fares then have service intervals that are over 10 mins during rush hour and even higher during other times.

I'll stop beating a dead...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Regarding the frequency, i'd say that every 10 mins during rush hour is sort of weak, though I guess we'll have to see what the ridership numbers are.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

If they allow the silver line to use the state police ramp and convert the pike entrance over by the rental cars and Uber/lyft over to bus only then it would solve most of those problems.

Delay
Silver Line - SL3 experiencing 15-20 minute delays due to traffic in the Ted Williams Tunnel

Shocking

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Is a state going to let the silver line buses to use the Silver Line way instead of doing a weird loop by the state police barricks?.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Actually I stand corrected, SL4 and SL5 pay the standard bus fare. I'd say that should be extended to SL3, although there are issues with South Station and sharing the entrance with the Red Line.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Just my personal opinion, the silver line should have bus fares and not subway fares. With SL4 and SL5 to Roxbury and SL3 to Cheslea they serve low income areas. And despite the bus lanes they're...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Sullivan then Kendall would make the most sense.

I think additional transit to Kendall makes more sense since it is such a huge jobs center. The grand junction line could work for that. I don't...

Re: Chelsea Creek Fuel Deliveries

I don't think that they're building new nuclear plants anywhere.

If you think the NIMBY's are bad for skyscrapers try to build a nuclear power plant anywhere.

Re: Chelsea Creek Fuel Deliveries

Most of the Boston areas fuel comes from tankers. Part of this is because environmentalists (NIMBY's) campaign hard against any new pipelines. The campaign against pipeline also has the affect of...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Not through the Ted Williams tunnel or the airport.

And someone correct me if i'm wrong but i'm not sure that it includes bus lanes through all of eastie.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

It only has its own right of way for parts of the route. There are many heavily congested areas that it interacts with. I don't believe that it has intersection priority.

I mean you could point...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Ehh I don't think they do. The institute that defined those standards defined the Silver Line as Not BRT. Look at the SL1 route from the portal to the Ted Willams. It is the most convoluted route...

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I would think that airport station would be the busiest on the route. Both for Cheslea residents going downtown or Revere/Lynn/Eastie going to the Seaport.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

Allowing the bus to use the state police ramp would alleviate most of the eastbound congestion.

Re: Silver Line to Chelsea

I know this has probably already been discussed, but will this thing get stuck in eastie traffic? I know the TWT gets backed up often too.
